IAN WARD IS HAUNTING MARIAH COPELAND AND WE ARE DEEPLY UNSETTLED

TL;DR: Mariah Copeland is haunted by Ian Ward on Friday’s Young and the Restless because apparently her life wasn’t messy enough already. Plus, Victor and Nick scheme against Matt Clark, and Daniel makes a promise to Tessa.

Ian Ward Is Back to Terrorize Mariah Copeland

Happy 2026, Young and the Restless fans! The new year is kicking off with Mariah Copeland being haunted by Ian Ward, which is exactly as unsettling as it sounds. According to Friday’s spoilers, Ian Ward is living rent-free in Mariah’s head, and given their horrifying history, this cannot mean anything good.

For those who need a refresher on this nightmare of a man: Ian Ward is the cult leader who raised Mariah before she discovered Sharon Newman was her biological mother. He’s manipulative, dangerous, and recently held Victor Newman at gunpoint. The man is a menace to Genoa City, and now he’s apparently tormenting Mariah from the shadows.

Mariah Copeland Is Already Going Through It

Here’s the thing: Mariah is already in crisis mode. She’s been in some kind of treatment facility, has completely shut out Tessa, refuses phone calls, and won’t see visitors. Her marriage is crumbling while Tessa catches feelings for Daniel Romalotti. And NOW she has to deal with Ian Ward haunting her? Someone give this woman a break!

The spoiler says Mariah is “haunted” by Ian Ward, which could mean several things. Is he literally showing up at her facility? Is she having flashbacks or nightmares about her cult upbringing? Is Ian Ward somehow connected to whatever mental health crisis sent Mariah to treatment in the first place? The possibilities are endless and all of them are terrifying.

Camryn Grimes is a two-time Emmy winner for a reason, and Friday’s episode is going to give her plenty of material to work with. Mariah confronting her traumatic past with Ian Ward is exactly the kind of heavy emotional storyline that Grimes absolutely crushes.

Victor and Nick Plot Against Matt Clark

Meanwhile, the Newman men are doing what Newman men do best: scheming. Victor and Nick are plotting against Matt Clark on Friday, continuing their mission to destroy the man who faked his death and came back to torment their family.

Matt Clark has been operating under the alias “Mitch” and running a fentanyl empire out of LA. He married Sienna, got close to Noah, and basically inserted himself into Newman family business with bad intentions. Victor already bankrupted him using AI technology, but apparently that wasn’t enough. The Newmans want Matt Clark completely neutralized.

Nick has personal history with Matt Clark that goes back decades. This isn’t just about protecting Noah. This is about finally ending a threat that has plagued the Newman family for far too long. Whatever Victor and Nick are cooking up, Matt Clark better watch his back.

Daniel Makes a Promise to Tessa

Rounding out Friday’s spoilers, Daniel Romalotti makes a promise to Tessa. Given that Tessa was exploring her feelings for Daniel on Wednesday, this promise is probably relationship-adjacent and definitely going to make Teriah fans nervous.

Tessa is vulnerable right now. Mariah has completely shut her out, and Daniel has been a shoulder to cry on. It’s a classic soap opera setup: two lonely people finding comfort in each other while one of them is still technically married. Whatever Daniel promises Tessa on Friday, it’s either going to complicate things further or give her the support she desperately needs.

The Mariah, Tessa, and Daniel triangle is heating up just as Mariah is being haunted by her cult leader past. Young and the Restless is not letting anyone start 2026 peacefully, and honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
