SHARON WANTS REHAB, PHYLLIS SAYS TRUST FAMILY, JACK IS WAITING FOR A CALL, AND JOE’S PILLS ARE STILL IN NICK’S POCKET

TL;DR: Nick Newman walked out of Sharon’s house on Wednesday, October 7 with Joe’s pills in his pocket and nobody the wiser. Sharon wants him back in rehab, Phyllis told him to stop trying to be a hero and trust his family, and Jack Abbott is still waiting for a call Nick never made. The week of October 12 then brings a detective to Nick’s door, and it is not about Joe.

Two Ex-Wives, Two Cures and a Secret in His Pocket

Young and the Restless spoilers for the week of October 12 hand Nick Newman his biggest test since rehab, and the people who love him cannot agree on how to save him. Sharon Newman wants him back in rehab. Phyllis Summers wants him home with family. Jack Abbott offered to be his sponsor and is still waiting for an answer. None of them knows what Nick is carrying.

On Tuesday, October 6, a flashback showed Nick taking the drugs off Joe after beating him in an alley on Friday, October 2. That night he had baggies of pills in his pockets, and he told no one. The same day he turned down a meeting his mother, Nikki Newman, offered him. It is all laid out in our full two-week Young and the Restless spoilers.

On Wednesday, October 7, Sharon called Phyllis in. Nick claimed he hurt his hand on a heavy bag, then admitted he went after Joe and that recovery has been rough. We covered the alley and the story Victor is still covering for. Sharon wanted him back in rehab and Marie left to the hospital. Phyllis said he would only meet more people like Marie there.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Phyllis Summers and Sharon Newman confront Nick Newman at Sharon's house

Phyllis Has Done This Before, and Jack Is Still Waiting

Phyllis told Nick to stop trying to be a hero, because that is how he got here, and to trust his family. More than a decade ago, when Jack refused a facility, she got him through painkiller withdrawal herself. She promised Nick the same help, with no judgment.

The man she got clean is the sponsor Nick never called back. Jack first offered in August at Nikki’s request, and again on Tuesday, September 29. On Wednesday, Nikki asked Jack to try again, and Jack said Nick had turned him down and that the next move has to be Nick’s.

Phyllis has caught Nick Newman once already. On May 28, when he overdosed at Newman Enterprises, she gave him mouth-to-mouth while Matt Clark did chest compressions until the paramedics arrived. Sharon has caught him too. In August she went to the motel in the middle of the night to get him after Marie Kirkland overdosed in the room next door.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Nikki Newman asks Jack Abbott to reach Nick

Does Nick Newman relapse on Young and the Restless?

Nothing on screen shows Nick using through Friday, October 9. What the show has confirmed is the setup: the pills have been in his pocket since October 6, Marie is still unconscious in the hospital after her second overdose on September 30, and Nick Newman is 25 days out of rehab when Monday, October 12 begins. He vowed revenge on Joe the night Marie was found.

Here is the part nobody has lined up: every person in position to catch him has a dated record. Phyllis breathed for him on May 28, and Sharon came for him in the night in August. Jack has offered twice and heard nothing, and Nikki’s meeting was refused on October 6. Marie, the one everyone is arguing about, has no record at all.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Matt Clark and Sharon Newman

Matt Clark Is Back, and the Police Are Coming to Nick’s Door

The week of October 12 does not bring Joe to Nick’s door. In the preview, Detective Burrow tells Nick he is not there about Joe. He is there about a car accident a hundred miles south, an empty vehicle, and fingerprints inside it that belong to Matt Clark. That is the car Nick let Matt drive out of town with Patty Williams on Monday, September 28, when Victor Newman left the call to his son.

Matt is already back in Genoa City, hiding in a motel and watching Phyllis from the GCAC staircase on Wednesday. He came back to town, and he is not leaving. The same preview shows Matt sneaking into Sharon’s house. The woman pushing hardest for Nick’s recovery is about to have Matt inside her home, and Patty, who fled that wreck, is still loose.

So who catches Nick Newman if he slips? My gut says Phyllis, because she promised to help with no judgment and has already pulled him back once. The wild card is Matt, who worked Nick’s heart in May and was warned never to come back. If Nick goes after Matt for being in Sharon’s house with Joe’s pills still in his pocket, the person who catches him could be the detective.

Who do you trust to catch Nick first: Sharon, Phyllis or Jack? Leave your pick in the comments.

Follow every move Nick, Sharon, Phyllis and Jack make next week in the full two-week preview for Young and the Restless.

Everyone Trying to Save Nick Is Watching the Wrong Danger

Sharon and Phyllis spent Wednesday arguing about Marie, and Jack is waiting on a call about a sponsorship. None of them is looking at Nick’s pocket. The last time he went down, it took two people and an ambulance to bring him back, and one of those two is now hiding in a motel. The danger next week is the thing Nick has not told anyone he is carrying.

So who catches him: the ex-wife who wants rehab, the ex-wife who wants him home, or the sponsor he never called? Tell us on our Facebook page.
