EXCLUSIVE WEDNESDAY CANADIAN Y&R DAY AHEAD: Nick Newman Marched In to End Matt Clark But His Drugs Ended Him First

NICK NEWMAN HIT THE FLOOR MID-THREAT AT PHYLLIS’S OFFICE

TL;DR: On Wednesday, May 27, Young and the Restless hands us Nick Newman walking into Phyllis’s office to end the Matt Clark hostage situation once and for all and collapsing on the carpet instead. Meanwhile Devon admits to Abby that his anger is really at himself, Victoria offers to be her mom’s recovery wing-person, and Cane plies Lily with champagne until they kiss.

Nick Newman Marched Into Phyllis’s Office to End Matt Clark and Hit the Floor Instead

On Wednesday, Nick Newman marches into Phyllis’s office at Summer’s Conglomerate with Victor Newman behind him, Sienna Clark, Noah Newman, and Sharon Newman close behind, and Matt Clark standing next to Phyllis Summers, the woman who tied him up like a Tuesday hostage. The room is FULL. The tension is GOURMET. Victor announces Matt’s days of terrorizing the family are over. Phyllis accuses Nick of setting her up. Matt looks at Sienna and pieces together she is the wife who cheated on him with Noah, the same Noah currently glowering at him across the room. Reader, Y&R squeezed an entire telenovela into one office.

Sharon is appalled Matt does not remember her. Matt does not remember Sienna either, beyond a vague flash of her trying to KILL HIM. Sienna casually mentions it was self-defense. Phyllis keeps defending Matt and Nick calls her an idiot for it. Victor bellows “STOP THE NONSENSE!” approximately four times. Matt apologizes to everyone. Nick says they are way past that. He reaches for his phone to call Burrow.

And then. Nick Newman COLLAPSES on the carpet. The room freezes. Matt looks at him and says one word. “Overdose.” Reader, the man who has been popping fentanyl pills for weeks like Tic Tacs has hit the floor of his ex-wife’s office while ten people watched. The IRONY. Nick Newman went in there to take down Matt Clark and his own body took him down first. Y&R, you ATE this entire week and we are still chewing.

Victoria and Nikki Worry About Nick at Crimson Lights While He Is Already Falling

Over at Crimson Lights, Victoria Newman finds Nikki Newman laughing with Esther about how much Katherine hated fishing. Esther returns to work and Victoria gets to the point. She is NOT convinced Nick is actually in rehab. Nikki says recovery is slow and addicts lie about everything. She then beats herself up because the addiction her son is fighting is her addiction. Reader, Melody Thomas Scott does heartbreak with one twitch and a soft exhale. We are RUINED.

Victoria tells her this is all Matt’s fault and reminds her she has been an example of recovery for decades. She offers to be Nikki’s “wing-person” for whatever Nick needs. Nikki, choking up, remembers how Katherine was at her side through her own recovery. They are both eager for the family to get some GOOD news. Reader, Nick Newman is currently on the floor of an office across town. The good news is not coming today.

Nate Hastings arrives. Nikki exits. Victoria asks Nate about how to treat opioid addiction. The former doctor speaks gently about how hard it is, how widespread, how nobody should be judged for it. Victoria, watching him explain it with such warmth, asks if he misses being a doctor. Reader, the chemistry is BREWING in this corner of Crimson Lights and we are taking notes.

Devon Confesses His Anger Is at Himself at the GCAC

Earlier at the GCAC, Lily Winters joined Devon Winters and Nate for wine. Lily said Malcolm is handling his transplant like a pro. Then Cane called her to welcome her back and Devon ROLLED HIS EYES so hard they may have come unmoored. He launched into another anti-Cane rant. Lily said she can take care of herself, accused Devon of taking out his Mariah anger on her, and stomped off. Reader, the sibling tension is so thick you could spread it on a scone.

Abby Newman-Abbott joined Devon after Nate excused himself. Devon vented about Lily. Abby gently suggested Devon was actually upset about Mariah. Devon admitted he went to see Mariah at the clinic. He admitted Mariah told him his anger was JUSTIFIED. He admitted Mariah pointed out the anger is really at himself for not protecting his family. Abby told him there is nothing to forgive. He listed every promise he has failed to keep. She said he kept her hope alive. Reader, the Newman-Winters union is doing the WORK and we love to see it.

Lily and Cane Toast Malcolm on the Cane Train and Lock Lips at the Door

Across town on the Cane Train, Cane Ashby has CHAMPAGNE and flowers set up. Lily arrives. He wants to celebrate Malcolm’s success. They toast Malcolm. They discuss Cane’s arrest. Cane says he is not worried because Victor faked the evidence to get to Phyllis. Lily admits she should never have made the Chancellor deal with Victor. Cane is sure Victor will make good on it.

They eat dinner. She thanks him for the millionth time. He walks her to the door. They KISS. They are kissing in the doorway like fifteen-year-olds at a homecoming dance and we are not OKAY. Reader, the Cane Train is HOTTING up the rails and there is no off-ramp at this station. Buckle in.
