Nick Newman Walked Into the Gym and Almost Punched the Man Who Saved His Life

On Friday, Nick Newman walks into the gym at the Newman Ranch to face Matt Clark, the man who restarted his heart with bare hands less than twenty-four hours ago. Matt tells Nick he was acting on instinct, that he gets flashes of images but no memories, and that none of what he hears about himself COMPUTES. Then he says the line. “Does one good deed cancel out all the things I have done?” Reader, Roger Howarth read that line like he wrote it himself and we are RUINED. Matt tells Nick he will not stop him from ending his life, but hopes saving Nick takes him a step closer to saving his soul.

Nick says Matt looks CLUELESS. Matt asks if he deserves to die. Nick growls, “I could end you and you would still have that stupid expression on your face. Where would the justice be?” Matt has no answer because he literally has no answer for ANYTHING right now. Nick channels his RAGE into the punching bag. Then he turns. He winds up. He swings at Matt Clark with a fist. Matt does NOTHING to resist. Reader, the man currently breathing thanks to Matt Clark has hauled off and SOCKED HIM in the face for the trouble. Y&R, this is not a thank you note. This is a war crime. Nick Newman is committing assault on a recovery patient.

Is Matt’s redemption arc really happening or is he going to wake up tomorrow remembering everything and pivot back to monster? Send us your hottest Matt Clark theories to [email protected] and we might publish them on the site!

The Newmans Debate How to Punish a Man Who Cannot Remember His Crimes

Earlier, at the Newman Ranch, Nick and family arrive home from the hospital. Noah Newman is sure his dad was let out too soon. Victoria Newman wants him where they can WATCH him. Nick demands to know where Matt is. Victor Newman confirms Matt is at “a secure location on the property,” which is corporate-Dad-speak for a CAGE. Nick is told that he technically died and Matt and Phyllis brought him back. Reader, Nick Newman finds out he was DEAD and that the people he hates most resurrected him. The shock is GOURMET.

Nick is DISGUSTED that Matt’s hands touched him. Sharon Newman and Adam Newman point out he would have stayed DEAD otherwise. Sharon says Matt was acting on some instinct buried in his mind. Victor says the man in that office was not the same one who laughed at him. They debate how to punish someone who cannot remember his crimes. Victoria suggests they let the LAW handle it. Nick REFUSES. Adam wants to make sure Matt can never hurt anyone again. Victor cuts a deal with Nick. He can see Matt, but only if he agrees to go to REHAB after. Nick agrees. Victor sends Adam with him.

Phyllis Arrives at the Ranch and Demands Her Pound of Flesh

Then Phyllis Summers shows up at the Newman Ranch for an UPDATE on Nick. The family awkwardly thanks her. Phyllis points out it was MATT who actually saved Nick’s life. She tells them the Matt she knows is freaked out and confused. He is nothing like the guy they have described to her for years. Nikki Newman, still nursing a migraine, says she can only thank Phyllis right now. Reader, Nikki Newman is thanking Phyllis Summers IN HER OWN LIVING ROOM and the Earth is shaking.

Victoria reminds Phyllis she waited until the last possible second to let Nick make the rescue happen. Phyllis says she would have waited LONGER if Nick had not offered her a deal. Nikki perks up. WHAT deal? Phyllis refuses to spill and demands to see Nick. Reader, Phyllis is HOLDING that deal like a winning lottery ticket and Nick Newman is sweating in another room. We are LIVING.

Patty and Phyllis Throw Hands Verbally at Crimson Lights

Earlier still, over at Crimson Lights, Patty Williams corners Phyllis on the patio and demands to know what she did with Matt. Phyllis calls her INSANE and STUPID. They argue. Patty accuses Phyllis of using Matt as a “sacrificial lamb.” Phyllis says Patty does not even belong in Genoa City and is CONNING Matt. Patty announces she is Matt’s “safety vest.” Phyllis is OVER it. Then Jack Abbott and Kyle Abbott storm in.

Phyllis exits stage left after suggesting they look for Diane at the “cat café or the peanut butter aisle” because Phyllis is having a DAY. Jack and Kyle confront Patty. They want to know what she did with Diane. Patty taunts Jack about his wife wanting nothing to do with him. She insists Diane is “out of their way.” Kyle accuses her of wanting his mom gone. Patty says Diane will be GONE for good. Reader, the woman who poisoned Jack on a yacht is in his face suggesting his wife has VANISHED forever. Where is Diane Jenkins. Y&R, WHERE.

Kyle Worries About Diane Before Patty Even Opens Her Mouth

Back at the Abbott Estate before the Crimson Lights ambush, Jack came downstairs to find Kyle in spiral mode. Kyle laid out the timeline. Diane has not been seen in DAYS. She has bailed on meetings. There are no emails. Her bed at the club has not been slept in. She missed Harrison’s play. Jack initially suggested she needed time to think and clear her head. Kyle pointed out a Diane Jenkins who would miss Harrison’s play does not exist.

Jack got CONCERNED. They agreed they may have to track down Patty for answers. Reader, Diane missing for days is not a vacation. Diane missing for days is a STORYLINE. Buckle in because Y&R is throwing us into a hot summer mystery and we are SO ready.

Victor Admits to Adam He Would Trade a Thousand Empires for Nick

In the chess room, Victor and Adam play a quiet game. Victor admits watching his son DIE will haunt him for the rest of his life. Adam relates because of the time Nick was SHOT in front of him. They both find it surreal that Matt and Phyllis were the ones who brought Nick back. They are sure Phyllis was acting out of love for Summer’s father. Victor admits he would have given up a THOUSAND empires to save his son.

Adam worries they will LOSE Nick for good if they let him go too far down this dark road. Reader, Eric Braeden gave us a quiet, breaking scene that lands like a kick to the chest. The Mustache is HEARTBROKEN and we are too. Hand him the Daytime Emmy already.

Whose Friday move has you screaming the loudest? Nick swinging at Matt who saved his life? Patty hinting that Diane is GONE for good? Or Victor admitting he would have traded everything for his son? Sound off because we need to talk!
