Friday on The Young and the Restless, Nick Newman made a choice that sounds sweet and could turn out to be pure dynamite. Fresh off his first day back at Newman Enterprises, he told Sharon Newman he plans to reach out to Jack Abbott and accept Jack’s offer to be his sponsor. These Young and the Restless spoilers say that sponsor deal lands in the middle of a war, and the full two-week preview shows how fast it is heating up.
The timing is wicked. That same Friday, Diane Jenkins Abbott plotted a Jabot media blitz to bury the Valentine’s Day debut of Vibrante, the brand Nikki Newman now runs, and she called it a “Valentine’s Day massacre.” Jack had reservations. Diane has been spoiling for this ever since she started picking a fight over Vibrante, and on the Sept 21 episode she raged that Jack keeps putting his friendship with Nikki above her feelings.
Now look at where Nick fits. He is Nikki’s son, and a sponsor is the person an addict calls at 2 a.m. when the pills start whispering. That puts Jack on call for a Newman at the exact moment his wife wants his loyalty pointed at Jabot. Plenty of Y&R scoop treats these as two separate stories, and I think that is a mistake.

Diane and Nikki Stop Pretending It Is About Makeup
Next week the gloves come off. A preview for the week of Sept 28 has Nikki and Diane squaring off at Society, where Diane insists, “I am more than capable of defending what’s mine.” Nikki’s comeback asks whether they are really still talking about Diane’s company, then warns, “This is going to be a battle.” Our week-ahead breakdown of that rivalry has the rest of the fallout.
Meanwhile, Nick Newman’s recovery turns into a family project. On Tuesday, Jack offers support to Nick. On Wednesday, Nikki and her husband Victor Newman make a tough decision to protect their son. On Thursday, Victor hosts a meeting of the minds to help Nick, while Nick takes matters into his own hands.
Who is Nick Newman’s sponsor on Young and the Restless?
Jack is lined up for the job, and Nikki is the one who put him there. On the Aug 24 episode, Nikki went to Jabot and begged Jack to help her son. Jack said it had to be Nick’s request, then told Victor, who called it “a terrible idea” and threw him out. So when Nick Newman said yes on Friday, he was saying yes to his mother’s plan.
Jack has walked this road with a Newman before. In spring 2024 he stepped in as Nikki’s sponsor, and that stretch ended with Jack relapsing on pills mixed with alcohol until paramedics revived him. Diane’s question to him back then still stings: “Did you once think of me?” Jack’s own history is with painkillers going back to the early 2010s, which is exactly why he understands what Nick is fighting.
Why Diane Cannot Win This One Cleanly
My gut tells me this is where the Vibrante war stops being about market share. Diane can fight a lipstick launch. She cannot easily tell her husband to hang up on a man fresh out of rehab without looking heartless, because Jack can truthfully say he is helping an addict stay sober. Don’t be surprised if Diane fires back that the last time he did that for a Newman, he nearly died.
Reading between the lines, Nikki wins either way. If Jack helps Nick Newman stay clean, she owes Jack everything, and that bond only gets tighter. If Diane pushes back, Nikki gets to play the worried mother while Diane plays the jealous wife. And Victor, who hates this sponsorship, could end up the strangest ally Diane has had in years.
