NOAH NEWMAN GRABBED MATT CLARK AT THE CHANCELLOR PARK CAFÉ AND GOT SUCKER PUNCHED FOR IT

TL;DR: Friday, May 8 on The Young and the Restless delivers the Genoa City showdown the audience has been waiting for since Sienna Bacall picked up that rock in the desert. Noah Newman walked into the Chancellor Park Café for chamomile tea, found Matt Clark staring at Audra Charles, and lunged. Matt swore he had no memory and begged Noah to tell him who he was. Noah did not believe a word of it. Matt punched Noah in the face and ran. Genoa City has officially lost the plot.

The Lavender-Chamomile Run That Turned Into a Fistfight

Noah Newman walked into the Chancellor Park Café on a tea run for Sienna Bacall, who is currently a nervous wreck at home convinced Matt Clark is alive and coming for her. Noah called his grandfather Victor for an update on the search. He dropped his phone. Audra Charles picked it up, slid him her own lavender-chamomile blend, and the two of them sat down to vent about Claire Newman and Kyle Abbott. Five minutes of small talk in a tea shop. That was all the recap was supposed to deliver.

Then Matt walked in and locked eyes with Audra. Audra blurted out his name. Noah dropped the chamomile and lunged.

Reader, the man Sienna swore she killed in the desert with a rock is currently in the same building as Noah Newman, who has spent every minute of the last week comforting Sienna and convincing her she was paranoid. Noah grabbed Matt by the shirt. Noah threatened to kill him. Noah barked at Audra to call Nick. Matt insisted his memory had been wiped. He begged Noah to tell him who he was. He swore he was lost. Noah did not buy a syllable of it. The grip tightened. The threat doubled.

Then Matt punched Noah in the face and ran.

Audra, frantic, could not reach Nick. Victor had blocked her calls. The search team spent the morning coming up empty on Matt’s body, and the body just sucker-punched the Newman heir at a tea café and walked out the door. Noah called his father. Genoa City is officially in trouble.

Phyllis Summers and Matt Clark Wrap the Bar Conversation From the Day Before

The other half of the GCAC bar scene from yesterday closes out Friday. Phyllis Summers is still drinking at the bar with Matt and still calling him a charming stranger with main character energy. The two of them riff about Genoa City being sweet and warm unless you are on the wrong side of things. Matt finishes his drink, tells Phyllis she “certainly is” something, and walks out of the GCAC right behind Nick Newman’s back.

Reader, the most-watched Newman in town walks past his ex-wife’s new amnesiac drinking buddy without seeing him. The man at the bar is the man who almost killed his stepson. The woman at the bar is the woman who has spent the last month being publicly destroyed by every Newman she ever loved. The near-miss is the cliffhanger. The collision is coming.

Nick Newman Tells Victoria Newman He Is an Addict

After Phyllis leaves the GCAC, Victoria Newman joins her brother at the table. Nick tells his sister about Vegas. He tells her about Matt and Riza luring Sharon Newman and Noah into a trap. He tells her there is no body and Matt may not be dead. Then he tells her something he has not told anyone outside of Nikki and Sharon. He is a drug addict.

Nick admits he got hooked on opioids after his accident. He thought he could control the fentanyl. He could not. Matt fed him bad fentanyl in Vegas and the spiral was real. He apologizes for disappointing his sister. Victoria refuses to let him take the blame and tells him she should have noticed sooner. The hug between the Newman siblings is the first real moment of family this storyline has delivered, and Victoria is the one Nick needs in his corner if Victor and Nikki cannot find their way back to each other.

Adam Newman Hangs Up on Riza and Tells Chelsea Lawson His Vegas Days Are Over

Adam Newman is on the phone at the Newman Ranch when Chelsea Lawson walks in. Riza calls. Adam tells her “that’s not going to happen” and hangs up. Chelsea is not stupid. She asks how far Adam went into his Spyder role to get information on Matt. Adam swears it was business. He swears Chelsea is his future. He admits the spark with the old life flickered.

The flicker is the cliffhanger. Adam is fighting the pull back. Chelsea is watching him fight it. The Lawson woman is going to have a hell of a year if Adam loses that fight. The Vegas storyline is creeping into Genoa City and Friday is the day Chelsea pulls on the thread.

Lauren Fenmore Warns Phyllis Summers the Walls Are Coming In

Lauren Fenmore walks the halls of Summer’s Conglomerate with Phyllis and breaks the worst news. The Texas deal fell apart. Four other deals have been scrapped. Morale is at an all-time low. The company is being frozen out. Phyllis brushes it off as a hiccup. Lauren is firm. Things may continue to unravel whether Phyllis wins in court or not.

Phyllis admits she is shocked she is not being burned at the stake. She wishes her kids could see why she had to do it the way she did. She tells Lauren she will understand if her friend wants to leave. Lauren is not going anywhere. The two women holding the line at Summer’s Conglomerate are the only people in Genoa City who still believe in Phyllis, and even Lauren is bracing for the building to come down around them.

The walls are coming in. The Newmans are winning. Phyllis is whistling in the halls of a company she may not own by Monday.

Is Matt Clark really an amnesiac or is the man playing the Newmans like a violin? Sound off below because the comment section is going to be a war zone!
