The Young and the Restless
Sharon Newman Is Always the Victim, and Matt Clark’s Stalking Exposes a Young and the Restless Habit
Sharon Newman has been held captive at least six times, and now Matt Clark has stalked her home. Young and the Restless fans have had enough.
SHARON NEWMAN HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED OR HELD CAPTIVE AT LEAST SIX TIMES, AND NOW MATT CLARK HAS FOLLOWED HER HOME
TL;DR: Young and the Restless fans say Sharon Newman is always the victim, and the record backs them: she has been kidnapped or held captive at least six times, four of them in 16 months. Now Matt Clark, who raped her in 1994, has stalked her home, and on Friday she agrees to be his therapist.
Fans Say Sharon Is Always the Victim, and the Record Proves It
Young and the Restless fans have seen this movie before, and they’re done. “Sharon: Always the victim,” reads a Reddit thread that lit up after Matt Clark stalked Sharon Newman home this week. The poster’s question was simple: how many times have we seen this? One fan joked that as often as Sharon gets kidnapped, she should wear a panic button around her neck.
The fans are right, and the record is worse than they remember. Sharon has been kidnapped or held captive at least six times: on a private jet in 2004, in a church wired with explosives in 2006, in the sewers in December 2024, in an abandoned hospital in early 2025, in a locked chateau room in July 2025 and in a Las Vegas garage in April 2026. That’s four in 16 months. Sharon Case joked in February 2025 that it was her “third or fourth abduction,” and that was before the chateau and Las Vegas.
This round started on Monday, October 12, with a silent phone call and Matt muttering, “Clearly, hero time is over.” On Tuesday he watched her from the Crimson Lights patio, trailed her all the way home and let himself in: “Hello, Sharon.” Friday brings a twist most of the thread never saw coming, and our two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers has every beat.

The Writers Keep Making Sharon Look Clueless
The thread’s loudest gripe is that the writers keep making Sharon look clueless. On Monday she answered a caller who said nothing, and on Tuesday she checked a noise at her front door, closed it and turned around to find Matt in her living room. One fan wondered how she never noticed him staring at her in the coffeehouse. Another fired back: “She doesn’t even lock her door!”

Newman Ranch Security Is a Running Joke
On Tuesday, Nick Newman and his father, Victor Newman, agreed the ranch was safe and security would keep Matt off it. By that night he was in Sharon’s living room, which one fan called “a joke at this point.” On Wednesday, Matt Clark explained he had hidden in the trunk of her car when she left Crimson Lights. When she threatened to call the guards, he said, “Maybe security will arrive in seconds, but maybe they won’t.”
Fans have the receipts. In June 2023, Cameron Kirsten tunneled into Sharon Newman’s cottage through a closet while Victor’s guards patrolled the property, so one fan figured Matt walking in was “easy peasy.” In January, Matt arrived at Sharon’s tied up in the trunk of Nick’s car. As one viewer noted, the one thing the guards never do is check the trunks.

What did Matt Clark do to Sharon on Young and the Restless?
Matt Clark raped Sharon Newman in 1994, after she left him for Nick and Nick beat him in a fight. In 2001, posing as Carter Mills, he drugged her drink and tried to rape her at a cabin. In April 2026, he pulled a gun in Las Vegas, chained her and her son, Noah Newman, in a garage and blew it up with them inside. Head writer Josh Griffith said in June she has “been the most abused by this man,” so when one fan asked what makes Matt so obsessed with her, another answered: “It’s just obsession at this point.”
Fans Ask Whether Something Is Wrong With Matt’s Head
Since his October 5 car crash, Matt has winced and clutched his head, and on Wednesday he told Sharon, “The darkness is back.” One fan floated a brain aneurysm, another called him Jekyll and Hyde, and a third asked why nobody called an ambulance. Fair point: no doctor has examined him on screen, and his only medical update is his claim that an X-ray after an earlier blow came back normal.

Friday, Sharon Agrees to Treat the Man Who Hurt Her Most
Here’s the twist. After Nick keeps watch all night, Matt Clark wakes on Sharon’s couch, still wanting to die, and insists she be his therapist. Nick explodes, “Matt raped Sharon and tried to murder her!” Sharon, who trained as a therapist, says yes anyway, as long as Matt accepts another therapist if she can’t help. Matt smiles.
Before it aired, one fan predicted Sharon would coach Matt into a better man, and another sighed, “I would love this, which means it won’t happen.” It happened. Next week, Nick tells Sharon that Matt is “safely put away.” New head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor take over on screen November 11, and one fan has a request: “YR needs to move forward, not back.”

Sharon Newman Deserves a Story Where She Wins
The fans earned this one. Sharon Newman has survived a jet, a bomb, a sewer, an abandoned hospital, a locked room and a garage, and her reward is the man who raped her riding past the guards in her own trunk. Give her a story where she does the chasing.
