SHARON NEWMAN IS DRIVING INTO A TRAP AND THE MONTECITO HAS SEEN THIS BEFORE

TL;DR: Matt Clark texted Sharon Newman from Nick Newman’s stolen phone on The Young and the Restless, telling her Nick has Matt cornered in Las Vegas. Sharon and Noah Newman got on a plane. They are now driving through the desert in a rental car toward what they believe is a victory. Nick was held in a storage room. Adam Newman got knocked unconscious in that same storage room. Matt Clark is loose in Las Vegas. Sharon has no idea what she is actually driving into, and “The Montecito” has seen this movie before.

Let Us Talk About That Text

Sharon Newman got a text from Nick Newman‘s phone. The text said Nick had Matt Clark exactly where he wanted him and she should get to Las Vegas to watch it happen.

Sharon believed it. Of course she believed it. It came from Nick’s phone. It sounded like Nick. It had the energy of a man who had gone to Las Vegas to finish something and was about to finish it.

Sharon Newman and Noah Newman got on a plane. They landed in Las Vegas. They got into a rental car. They are currently driving through the desert toward what they believe is a victory.

Matt Clark sent that text.

Matt Clark, who is loose somewhere in Las Vegas after taking Adam Newman to the storage room where Nick was held, hitting Adam over the head with a fire extinguisher, leaving him unconscious on the floor, and disappearing while Adam woke up and freed Nick and called Chelsea Lawson from a phone on the wall.

Nick, Adam, and Chelsea are now in a hotel room. Matt Clark is somewhere in Las Vegas. Sharon and Noah are in a rental car, driving through the desert, thinking they are headed to a celebration.

For Those Who Need the Delinda Reference

On the hit NBC show Las Vegas, Delinda Deline was the daughter of Montecito security boss Ed Deline. Delinda had a particular talent for finding herself in situations that started as one thing and became something significantly more dangerous without anyone seeing it coming. In one of the show’s most memorable story arcs, Delinda ended up trapped in a box buried in the desert outside Las Vegas.

Sharon Newman and Noah Newman are in a rental car, driving through the Las Vegas desert right now. They think Nick is winning. They think Matt is cornered. They think they are about to walk into a hotel room where everything has gone according to plan.

The Las Vegas desert has a long and storied history of not cooperating with that particular brand of optimism.

Ed Deline would have had Matt Clark flagged, tracked, and quietly removed from the property before Sharon’s rental car cleared the airport. Danny McCoy would have had eyes on Nick the moment he checked into the Montecito. Neither of them is currently on duty, and the situation is showing it.

What Sharon Does Not Know

Let us be very precise about the gap between what Sharon Newman believes and what is actually true.

Sharon believes Nick has Matt exactly where he wants him. What actually happened is that Matt had Nick in a storage room, surviving on whatever pills Matt chose to give him. Matt then brought Adam to that same storage room, hit Adam over the head, and left both Newman brothers in the dark while he went wherever Matt Clark goes when his schemes start unraveling.

Adam woke up. Adam saved Nick. Adam called Chelsea. They are in a hotel room now.

Matt Clark is loose in Las Vegas with a head start and a very specific understanding of exactly where the Newman family is and what they think is happening.

Sharon is driving through the desert with her son, thinking she is about to watch Nick triumph over the man who violated her all those years ago. She deserves that moment more than almost anyone in Genoa City. She is not getting that moment today.

What she is getting is Las Vegas, which has never once delivered what anyone expected.

One Loose End Nobody Is Talking About

While Sharon and Noah are in that rental car and Nick, Adam, and Chelsea are in that hotel room, and Matt Clark is somewhere in Las Vegas doing whatever Matt Clark does next, Sharon’s house back in Genoa City is not empty.

We are simply noting that. We are not elaborating. We are flagging it as a detail that Genoa City may want to revisit at some point and moving on.
