PHYLLIS SUMMERS STILL THINKS MATT IS MISSING, AND SHE HAS NO IDEA SHARON AGREED TO TREAT HIM

TL;DR: What does Phyllis discover about Matt Clark? On Young and the Restless, spoilers point to a stunning discovery for Phyllis Summers the week of November 2. Matt is back in town, he checked himself into a clinic, and Sharon agreed to be his therapist. Phyllis knows none of it, and Daniel wants to keep it that way.

Phyllis Still Thinks Matt Is Missing

So what does Phyllis discover about Matt Clark? On Young and the Restless, spoilers point to a stunning discovery the week of November 2. Phyllis Summers believes Matt Clark vanished after a car wreck. He didn’t. He’s back, he checked himself into a clinic, and Sharon Newman agreed to be his therapist.

Phyllis has no clue. On October 14, Nick Newman told her Matt’s wrecked car had been found with no Matt in it. She called him ancient history, then left a voicemail asking him to call so she’d know he was okay. That same night, Nick found Matt at Sharon’s house. Matt had been back in town since October 7.

On October 16, Matt agreed to check into a clinic on one condition: Sharon had to be his therapist. She said yes, with an exit clause if their history got in the way. On Tuesday, October 20, Nick tells Sharon and her daughter Mariah that Matt is “safely put away.” Keep our two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers close.

Sharon or Nick Could Let It Slip, or Matt Could Call Her Himself

Who tells her? Spoilers have floated Sharon as the one who brings her in. She and Phyllis survived being locked up together in an abandoned psychiatric clinic in 2025, and in June Sharon asked Phyllis where the fighter from the clinic went. Now Matt is the one in a clinic, and Sharon holds the secret.

Nick is the other candidate. He told Phyllis about the crash the same day he found Matt, and he wants Matt gone, not visited. Or Matt could call her himself. On October 7 he said, “I want to be the guy that Phyllis thinks I am.” Her voicemail is still waiting.

Does Phyllis Find Out Sharon Is Matt’s Therapist on Young and the Restless?

Not yet, and the deal may not even hold. Spoilers hint that Phyllis Summers could learn about the clinic and Sharon’s role the week of November 2, and may eventually pay Matt a visit. On Tuesday, Nick and Mariah beg Sharon to cut ties, and she tells Nick she understands his point.

Here’s the catch. Sharon has a master’s degree, not a license we’ve ever seen. On October 14 she told Matt he needed an expert who could stay detached. Two days later she agreed to be that expert, just as she took on Adam as a client in 2020, history and all.

There’s also a time bomb. In September, Phyllis and Matt plotted a staged rescue with Sharon as the target, and Phyllis assured Sharon there was nothing between them. Matt called the plan off, and nothing shows Sharon ever found out. Now she’s about to sit across from the one man who knows.

Daniel Has Every Reason to Keep Her Away From Matt

Daniel Romalotti Jr. is now his mother’s co-CEO, and spoilers say he may plead with her to leave Matt alone and focus on their partnership. In August, when Phyllis asked for help finding Matt, Daniel shot back, “The psychopath?” and “Good riddance.” Phyllis herself thinks he took the job partly to manage her.

Daniel has reason to doubt Sharon, too. In 2024, Sharon believed she had killed Heather and tried to pin it on Daniel, until Jordan turned out to be the killer, working for Ian. Can he stop her? Sharon, Victor, Nick, Adam and Daniel have all warned Phyllis Summers about Matt since May, and she kept choosing him.

Matt Was Nick and Sharon’s Enemy Long Before Phyllis Fell for Him

This triangle is older than the romance. In 1994, after Nick beat him in a fight, Matt raped Sharon. In 2001, posing as Carter Mills, he tried to rape her. This April he chained her in a Las Vegas garage that later blew up with her, Noah, Nick and Adam inside. On October 13, he followed Sharon home.

Head writer Josh Griffith put it plainly in June: “Phyllis was never a victim of Matt’s horrors.” In September she told Adam, “Maybe I’m in love with him.” After their last night together, she woke up alone, put on the cap he left behind and said, “Ok. Until we meet again, Matt Clark.”

Watch the calendar. Michelle Stafford, Roger Howarth and Michael Graziadei are all up for Daytime Emmys on October 30, new head writers take over November 11, and a Thanksgiving first look features Phyllis with Daniel, Danny, Christine and Lauren. My gut tells me Phyllis Summers walks into that clinic before the turkey, and her visit could make or break Matt’s treatment.

Phyllis Will Find Her Way to That Clinic, and Sharon Should Brace Herself

Daniel will plead and Nick will stall, but Phyllis has never once listened to a warning about Matt. If she learns he was back in town while she left him worried voicemails, her real fight won’t be with her son. It will be with Sharon.
