WE’VE SEEN VICTOR NEWMAN DO THIS RECONCILIATION A THOUSAND TIMES BEFORE

TL;DR: Victor Newman and Nikki Newman are reconciling again on Friday, and if you’ve watched this show for more than a season, you already know exactly how it plays out. It’s summer. You already have the day off. Save it for something Genoa City can’t predict for you.

We’ve Seen This Film Before And We Already Know the Ending

It is summer. You already have Friday off, whether that means a long weekend, a day at the lake, or a completely justified nap, and Soap Opera Magazine is here to make sure you use that free time wisely.

Victor Newman and Nikki Newman are getting back together again, and if you have watched this show for longer than a season, you already know exactly how this scene plays out before it airs. We have seen the fight, the withdrawal, the slow thaw, and the eventual embrace enough times that we could write next Friday’s dialogue ourselves without watching a single frame.

There will be a meaningful look. There will be some version of an apology that is not quite an apology. There will be a slow fade toward reconciliation set to swelling music, and by the end of it, Victor Newman and Nikki will be right back where they always end up, as if the last however many episodes of tension never happened at all.

This is not a spoiler. This is a pattern, and patterns do not need a Friday afternoon carved out of your actual summer to be appreciated, no matter how many times the show insists this particular reconciliation feels different from the last one.

Got a theory about how many more times Victor Newman and Nikki Newman can reconcile before it stops meaning anything? Email us at [email protected], and we might feature your take!

You Have Better Things to Do This Summer

Here is the honest truth. Genoa City has recycled this exact storyline beat so many times that predicting the outcome barely qualifies as speculation anymore. Victor Newman and Nikki fight, something threatens to actually end things for good, and then they land right back in each other’s arms before the credits roll. It happened last time. It happened the time before that.

It is going to happen Friday, and you do not need to burn a beautiful summer afternoon confirming something you could have predicted from a spoiler headline. That is not us being dismissive of the characters or the actors, who are both doing exactly what the writers give them to do, and doing it well. It is us being honest about the math.

If you have already seen this reconciliation play out a dozen times with only minor variations, watching version thirteen live is not going to give you anything new, and you already know how it resolves before a single scene airs. Go outside. Watch it later this weekend if you are curious how the specific lines land and want the full context. But Friday afternoon, when you already have the day off, deserves better than a rerun with new lighting and the same exact ending everyone in this fandom could recite from memory.

Do you think this Victor Newman and Nikki Newman reconciliation actually sticks this time, or are we due for round fourteen sometime next year? Tell us in the comments below.

Our Take: Save Friday for Something That Surprises You

Soaps work because they know their audience, and their audience knows them right back. Victor Newman and Nikki finding their way back to each other is comfort food at this point, familiar and reliable. Still, comfort food does not need appointment viewing on a summer Friday you already had off.

Catch the recap when you get a chance, read our breakdown afterward if you want the highlights without the runtime, and spend the actual day on something Genoa City cannot predict for you.

Tell us on our Facebook page how many more reconciliations you’ve got left in you.
