CBS is aligning Victor Newman with Vernon Dupree and fans are furious because these two CBS patriarchs are NOT the freaking same.

TL;DR: CBS is about to align The Young and the Restless’ Almighty Victor Newman with Beyond the Gates’ Vernon Dupree, and Vernon Dupree fans are PISSED because these two patriarchs are NOT the freaking same.
How DARE CBS?
CBS is about to put The Young and the Restless‘ Almighty Victor Newman in the same breath as Beyond the Gates‘ Vernon Dupree, and Vernon Dupree fans are PISSED. How DARE they? Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) is the husband, dad, and grandfather every soap opera fan dreams of, while Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) does everything in his power to protect his family… when he can squeeze it in.
Anita Dupree’s ride or die husband, Vernon, can’t touch Nikki Newman’s on-and-off-again Victor. CBS soap opera fans have known Vernon for barely a year, and he’s already heavily favored over Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. Why? Because Vernon DOES do everything in his power to protect his family full-FREAKING-time.
While The Almighty Victor Newman, otherwise known as “The Mustache,” has been a fixture on The Young and the Restless since a lot of us were five years old or less, he is NOT consistent in protecting his family. He’s only consistent in winning, no matter what the cost is and who it affects, family or not. On the other hand, on the other soap opera on CBS, Vernon consistently is his family’s ride or die, no matter what.

Victor Had Victoria Arrested and Vernon Called a Press Conference
For example, CBS soap opera fans, when Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) married Billy Abbott (then, the late Billy Miller), Victor had her arrested. Victoria was seriously beautiful in a white wedding dress, and The Mustache had her arrested.
When Vernon’s daughter, the apple of his eye, was forced to attend her ex-husband Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) wedding to a “family friend,” she not only brought a golden gun, but she shot it. Yes, Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) did wrong, but Vernon had her back. He called a press conference and diverted attention like the pro he is, ride or die for his family.
