Billy helped take Newman Enterprises away from the Newmans, and Victoria is losing her mind over it. Meanwhile, her daddy Victor does the exact same thing to other families constantly—and she defends him every single time.

Victor Newman can take over whatever business he wants, whenever he wants, from whomever he wants in Genoa City. But if anyone—especially a non-Newman—dares to do the same thing to a Newman company? All hell breaks loose.

Victoria Newman’s Standards: Convenient & Self-Serving ONLY

Y&R’s Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is of the utmost class in Genoa City, except when she’s not. Could this woman BE any more her father’s daughter?

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) helped orchestrate the takeover of Newman Enterprises, and suddenly he’s public enemy number one according to Victoria. But when Victor Newman takes over Chancellor, Abbott-Chancellor, Jabot, or any other family business in town? That’s just Victor being Victor. That’s just business.

The hypocrisy is staggering. Everyone else in Genoa City has to follow the rules and respect boundaries—unless your last name is Newman. Even Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), Victor’s own daughter, isn’t treated like a real Newman. She’s never in the loop and is held to completely different standards than Victoria.

Victoria’s Parenting Threats: Punishing Billy for Being Like Victor

Victoria and Billy were THE couple back in the day. That’s long gone, but they’re still co-parents—and they usually co-parent well, except when Billy does something Victoria doesn’t like.

Now, Victoria is threatening to keep their children away from Billy because he helped take Newman Enterprises. Really? Who does that help? It only hurts their kids and Billy.

Here’s the thing: Billy trying to help take over Newman Enterprises is no different than what Victor Newman does to other families all the time. Sure, Billy’s made mistakes—he lost his family’s yacht playing poker, for crying out loud. But when it comes to business tactics? Billy’s just playing the same game Victor’s been playing for decades.

If Victoria is going to keep the kids from seeing Billy for business moves like this, then by her own standards, the kids shouldn’t be able to see Victor either. Victor has taken over more businesses and destroyed more families than Billy ever could.

Double Standards Aren’t Pretty, Victoria

The bottom line? Victoria Newman doesn’t get to have it both ways. Either aggressive business takeovers are acceptable—in which case, Billy did nothing wrong—or they’re not acceptable, in which case Victor should face the same consequences.

But Victoria will never hold her father accountable the way she holds Billy accountable, and that’s exactly the problem.
