SALLY’S BABY SCARE STEALS THIS Y&R CANADIAN DAY-AHEAD

TL;DR: This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead sends Sally Spectra racing to the hospital with a belly full of contractions and Audra Charles issuing orders to the baby, hands Billy Abbott a set of car keys he has no business holding, leaves Lily Winters dodging Cane Ashby’s questions with a very strategic kiss, and gives Traci Abbott a heart-to-heart nobody saw coming, all while Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman keep their “office hours” strictly confidential. Want the bigger picture? Our Y&R spoilers for the next two weeks have it all.

Sally Spectra Crashes Her Own Bachelorette Party

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens with a guest of honor who has chosen the worst possible moment to steal her own spotlight. The pastries are forgotten, the toasts are over, and Sally Spectra thinks she’s having contractions, which turns a room full of partygoers into a very amateur obstetrics team. Audra Charles takes the most Audra approach available: she orders the baby to wait, then insists Sally isn’t having contractions at all. Bold medical stance from a woman whose only degree is in glaring.

Then Sally doubles over again, and the group starts timing the contractions like it’s a track meet. The verdict arrives fast. Nobody wants to deliver a baby between the appetizers and the coat check, and Sally is almost at term anyway. Out they go, helping the bride-to-be into Audra’s car like a very pregnant, very glamorous pit crew.

At the hospital, Audra waits with Coco Spectra, who declares herself Sally’s greatest fan and biggest cheerleader. Audra, who clearly does not enjoy competition for that title, counters that Sally means the most to her. The pom-poms are officially out. Billy Abbott stumbles in after a night of toasts and gets pointed toward Sally’s room while the doctor comes in to check on her.

During the exam, Sally’s mind wanders somewhere much darker. She flashes back to losing her last baby and being forced to say goodbye to the happiness she always wanted, and suddenly a few cramps feel like the end of the world. It is the heaviest beat of the hour, and it makes the next one land even harder.

Billy joins her once the exam wraps, and the verdict arrives in the least dramatic way possible: Braxton-Hicks, everything is fine. The couple melts with relief and swaps stories about how fun their parties were, and neither can wait to be married. Out in the waiting room, the doctor tells Audra and Coco the baby is not coming early, so the only thing delivered is a scare and a very good story.

Coco goes in to see her sister, and Billy is surprised to hear about a gift his mother, Jill Abbott, sent. Sally insists Coco stay at their house, but Coco is bunking at the club for the night and promises to see them tomorrow. Billy declares Coco great, steps out and calls Jack Abbott with the all-clear, and has apparently sobered up fast enough to be reassuring, which is the most romantic thing a groom can do in a hospital hallway. Back at Sally’s bedside, she admits she wants to go home and that being there reminds her how afraid she is about the pregnancy. Billy tells her they need to focus on the good things coming, and they look ahead to the week to come.

Is Sally’s scare a dress rehearsal for the big day, or a sign the universe has more plot waiting? Email your theories to amber@soapoperamagazine.com. The wilder, the better.

Billy Abbott Reaches for the Car Keys

Over at the Abbott estate, Jack is thrilled that the party is ending on a high note. Billy, on the other hand, has no intention of ending anything. He turns the evening into a sequel, taking aim first at Cane Ashby and then at Kyle Abbott, advising Kyle to learn his way around the bedroom after all those failed marriages. Billy has no idea Kyle has been enrolled in a very private continuing education program lately.

Then Abby Newman phones with news: Coco has brought Sally to the hospital, and everyone thinks she’s in labor. Billy lunges for his keys, Jack intercepts, and the whole room reminds him he is very much drunk. The car service gets a call, Billy sprints out to meet it, and Michael Baldwin keeps drinking, because somebody has to honor the open bar.

Jack suggests holding off on the toasts until they know what’s happened, then recalls the time he delivered a baby in an elevator, a story that ends with Kyle marrying the mother. Only in Genoa City is “and then my son married her” a footnote.

Audra Charles and Chelsea Lawson Shake on It

Back at Society, the leftover partygoers learn the bride left in labor, and the shock lasts roughly as long as it takes someone to point out the party was great anyway. Chelsea Lawson gets credit for working so smoothly with Audra, and Traci Abbott says she’s grateful for how devoted Audra is to Sally. Chelsea wonders if she should call Pietro, but Claire Newman urges her to wait until they’re sure, and Abby declares all will go well, so everyone toasts to that.

Later, Audra returns with the all-clear and the room exhales. Traci thanks Audra and Chelsea and heads out, and Claire tells Audra she pulled off a great party, which makes Audra’s eyes bug like she’s been handed a compliment in a foreign language. Then Chelsea corners her. She swears she isn’t trying to take Audra’s place in Sally’s life, asks her to knock off the snark, and admits she thinks Audra is a decent person she’d like to have around. Audra apologizes and blames her overprotective streak, they agree to lighten up, and they shake on it. Somewhere, a perfectly good grudge is looking for new management.

Lily Winters Kisses and Does Not Tell

Outside Society, Lily Winters shows Traci her test results, and the news settles absolutely nothing. The tests are inconclusive, Lily hates being stuck in limbo, and Traci reminds her she’s stronger than she’s ever been, then gently suggests it might be time to tell Cane.

Lily slips out of the party and calls Cane to meet her at the Chancellor Park Café. When he arrives, she says she wants to focus on the two of them and kisses him. Cane guesses the kiss means something. Lily claims the night was a reminder that anything can happen in an instant. Cane is not buying it. He guesses she’s keeping something from him and demands to know what is really going on. Nothing says “I’m fine” like a smooch with a hidden agenda.

Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman Work Late

Back at the estate, Michael polishes off a bottle and Cane helps him hobble out, which is the closest thing to a happy ending this party offers. Kyle tells Jack he has to run to the office and asks him not to wait up. Over at Society, Victoria Newman steps aside to answer a text from “Boris,” then tells Claire she’s ducking out to take care of something at the office.

Surprise: the office is the danger zone, and the only thing on the agenda is clothing removal. Afterward, the two compare notes on the parties, including Michael cracking jokes about her wedding to Billy. Victoria says the night turned out more interesting than she imagined. The hired dancer never got to dance, but she’s fine with that, because Kyle is the only man she wanted. Two executives, one “office,” zero spreadsheets.

Traci Abbott Needs Her Brother

Back at the Abbott mansion, Traci and Jack rehash the night, and all that baby talk has stirred up feelings about her late daughter, Colleen Carlton. Coco reminds her so much of her angel. Jack pulls his sister into a hug as she sobs. For once, nobody is plotting anything, which in Genoa City counts as a tender miracle.
