Nick Newman’s Dealer Crashes Coffee Hour
This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens with Esther Valentine welcoming Nick Newman back to Crimson Lights with the kind of warmth that makes you forget, for about four seconds, that this is Genoa City. Then Nick spots his old dealer, Joe, strolling in like he owns the place, and every ounce of that warm fuzzy feeling evaporates. Nick leaps up, demands to know why he’s there, and Joe tells him to relax while casually mentioning he saw Marie Kirkland earlier. Casually. Mentioning. That name.
Sharon Newman walks in just as Nick is chasing Joe out and ordering him never to come back, which is a lot of chasing and ordering for a man who’s supposed to be working on his calm. She drags him out to the patio and tells him to breathe. He snaps that he doesn’t need her playing therapist, then immediately apologizes. Sharon, who has clearly done this dance with Nick before, reminds him he had a temper long before any of this started. Fair.
Esther brings over herbal tea, because Esther fixes everything with tea, and Nick and Sharon get into sponsorship and regulating his reactions. But the real damage is already done: Joe mentioned Marie, and now Nick can’t stop thinking about it. Sharon urges him not to go to a dark place, insisting Joe was probably just trying to rattle him. Then Adam calls, summoning Nick to the ranch about something that has nothing to do with Matt Clark. Something that, coincidentally, has everything to do with the woman Joe just brought up.

The Newmans Weigh Whether Nick Can Handle the Truth
Rewind to the ranch, where Victor Newman arrives to find Nikki Newman buried in Vibrante planning. He loves how goal-oriented and spirited she is, and she makes it clear Diane doesn’t scare her. They pivot to Nick and how fast he’s settled back into work, with Victor privately terrified of what the stress could do to him. He admits he’s hoped, every single time she left rehab, that it would be the last.
Then the conversation turns to Jack potentially sponsoring Nick. Nikki insists it’s their son’s call. Victor wants literally anyone else on the planet. They’re mid-debate when Adam walks in with news that lands like a brick: Marie was found overdosed again, in the very same fentanyl motel room, and she’s in the hospital. Everyone immediately worries what this could do to Nick’s fragile new sobriety, and Victor doesn’t want the story getting out. Adam frets that Nick could find out anyway, so Victor makes the call: someone has to tell him themselves before Genoa City’s rumor mill beats them to it.
Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman Rename Their Contacts
Over at Society, Kyle Abbott stumbles in on Victoria and Claire Newman, and Victoria’s eyes do a full lap of the room before she manages any small talk. Claire mentions that Harrison Abbott keeps texting her from Italy, including a gift involving goats, and everyone laughs while Victoria dies a little inside. Claire heads out after a text about Holden Novak having father-son time with Malcolm Winters in London.
Once she’s gone, Kyle and Victoria admit how awkward it is sharing a table with their “fun secret” sitting right there. Neither regrets what they have, even if it’s a little complicated, and they agree it’s nothing like what Kyle had with Claire. Just chemistry. Very complicated, very deniable chemistry. Victoria still refuses to tell anyone, insisting it’s nobody’s business and she feels zero guilt, and Kyle points out the affair itself is half the thrill. To keep things extra covert, they decide to rename themselves in each other’s phones: Victoria goes with Natasha, Kyle takes Boris. Bullwinkle references, incoming espionage. Kyle reminds her the Jabot boardroom table is always available whenever she wants it, and she very much wants it now, but Nikki calls her to the ranch instead. Family first. Boris will have to wait.
A “Danger Zone” Toast, and a Family Gathers
Down at the secret apartment, Kyle pours himself a drink, replays his greatest hits with Victoria in his head, and decides this address might be the smartest decision he’s ever made. Meanwhile at the ranch, Victoria joins Adam, Victor and Nikki as they debate whether to tell Nick about Marie themselves. Nick walks in, takes one look at the assembled family, and assumes it’s an intervention. Close, but not quite.
Adam breaks the news: Marie overdosed again, in the same motel room where it happened before, and she’s currently in the hospital. He also reveals that his investigation into her turned up no family at all, which means she wasn’t planning to go to anyone for help. Nick is floored that she’s that alone, and immediately wants to cover her medical expenses. He turns down Adam’s offer to come along to the hospital, insists he’ll handle this his own way, and walks out.
The second he’s alone, the mask drops. “Damn you Joe! You are a dead man!” Somebody get Joe a very long head start.

Between a dealer who shouldn’t exist to Nick anymore, a family debate over how much truth one man can handle, and two people renaming themselves after cartoon spies to hide an affair that’s already an open secret to everyone but Nikki, Wednesday is loaded. And now Nick has made a promise about Joe that sounds anything but sober.
