Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Joey Armstrong Doubles His Bet Against Dani Knowing Andre’s Heather Secret

JOEY ARMSTRONG IS BETTING AGAINST THE MARRIAGE OF THE MAN HE OWES

TL;DR: Dani won $10,000 from Joey Armstrong on October 16 and took his double or nothing on another year with Andre. Joey knows Andre’s London past with Heather, and Dani does not. Here is who knows what before Heather turns treacherous on October 23.

Dani Cashed In, and Joey Raised the Stakes

The Joey Armstrong bet on Dani’s marriage just doubled. On Friday, October 16, Dani Dupree collected $10,000 from Joey, who had wagered that her marriage to Andre Richardson would not last a year. He did not sulk. He offered double or nothing on another year, and Dani took it.

Here is the catch. Joey made that offer knowing exactly what Dani does not: her husband’s London history with his own sister, Heather Armstrong. He has been sitting on it ever since Andre’s London secret landed in his hands.

And the clock is running. Next week’s Beyond the Gates spoilers put Heather on a short fuse by Friday, October 23. So who knows what, and who is about to get burned?

What Joey Has Known Since September

On September 23, Andre told Joey about a London fling with Heather and showed him a video of something he was never supposed to see. Joey took the phone. On September 29 he watched it, and it sounded as if Heather either slit someone’s throat or ordered it done.

Then came the debt. On October 2, Joey told Andre he owes him for saving Vanessa McBride after her carjacking, and that he had not shown Heather the video. Joey suspects his sister was behind that carjacking. He is also the only person in town who knows Heather is The Impaler, and he would rather Vanessa never sees Heather as dangerous.

Everyone Else at the Table Is in the Dark

Dani knows nothing. On the night Andre called in a favor to make Heather go away, he told his contact Henry that his wife has no idea. Henry wanted no part of it, and warned that crossing Heather could cost Andre his life, and Dani hers.

Vanessa still trusts her. On October 15 she found her a condo three blocks from Joey’s place, and on Friday Heather’s offer on a place near him was accepted. “Bye neighbor,” she told Andre.

Heather knows plenty of her own. She knows about the two kisses she shared with Andre on August 17 and August 31, which Dani has never heard about. On October 2 she learned Andre saved Vanessa, and called it “on brand for him.” Whether she knows the video exists has never been shown.

Why Is Joey Betting Against Dani and Andre’s Marriage?

Nobody on screen has said, and Joey has never explained either bet. But look at the calendar. Sixteen days after Joey Armstrong admitted he owes Andre, he put money on Andre’s marriage failing while still holding Andre’s phone. That is a man betting against the marriage of the man he owes.

Reading between the lines, there are two ways to see it. Either Joey can see the explosion coming, with Heather moving in near him and two kisses waiting to go off, or the bet is cover while he protects someone. The question is who. On Friday, Heather told him she wants to reconnect, and Joey Armstrong admitted he had thought about them being close again, “but that was a long time ago.” By one account, she dried her tears on the way out.

Heather’s Fuse Is Lit for October 23

The official line for the week of October 19 ends on Friday with Heather. She “gets triggered” and turns “treacherous.” Nobody says what sets her off.

If I know these writers, the bet becomes the match. Dani is the one card Heather holds over Andre, and the truth about London is the one card Joey holds over Heather. My gut tells me Dani hears it from Heather first, and Joey Armstrong has to decide whose side he is on before the year is up. Does a softer Joey put that video at risk?
