ABIGAIL DIMERA IS IN POD NUMBER TWO AND SALEM IS SHOOK!

TL;DR: EJ DiMera keeps admitting that he and Dr. Rolf have more pod people in the secret lab beyond Lexie Carver. The freshly recast Chad DiMera is asking the right question. Abigail DiMera’s body was never recovered. Sophia Mattsson has been hired. And the second Abby walks back into the DiMera mansion, the custody clause keeping Chad away from Cat Greene becomes meaningless, and Salem is never the same.

EJ Just Confirmed There Are More Pods

Friday’s episode of Days of Our Lives confirmed what veteran fans have been waiting on for nearly four years. EJ DiMera told Gwen Rizczech that he and Dr. Rolf had successfully reanimated Lexie Carver. They did it. She is back. Well, sort of. But she’s showing signs of life. And in the same breath, EJ admitted that Chad DiMera is sniffing around the secret lab because there are other test patients. Other patients. Plural. The freshly recast Chad has been pushing EJ harder than old Chad ever did, asking the question Salem has been afraid to ask out loud. Is Abigail DiMera in one of those pods?

The answer is almost certainly yes.

The Empty Coffin and the Half-Confession

Start with the body. Or rather, the lack thereof. When Chad and Jack Deveraux exhumed Abigail’s grave back in 2024, the coffin was empty. Untouched. Clyde Weston later told Chad that Abby was alive, said the words “Well, Abigail is” out loud on screen, and then took a bullet from Catharina Greene before he could finish the sentence. Clyde has been in a coma ever since. The man who knew where Abigail was has never woken up.

The Show Has Been Quietly Stacking the Deck

Now look at what the show has been quietly stacking. Cat Greene impersonated Abigail under duress when Clyde took her mother hostage. Rafe Hernandez and Cat have been openly debating on canvas which dead DiMera is in EJ’s pod. New Chad arrived from Arizona on April 21 swinging at EJ about that exact pod. And Soap Hub has confirmed actress Sophia Mattsson, formerly of General Hospital, has been hired by the show. Statuesque. Blonde. The right age. The right type for the kind of “amnesia woman with reconstructive surgery” reentry Days has used before. The tea leaves do not get more legible.

The Custody Clause Locking Chad Away From Cat

Now layer in the romantic prison Chad is locked into. To get his kids back from Jack and Jennifer in mediation, Chad signed a custody agreement that explicitly forbids him from dating Cat Greene. Ever again. Thomas saw Chad break a promise about Cat once and ran into traffic over it. Jen and Jack will not back down. Chad and Cat want each other. They can’t have each other. And EJ DiMera is moving in on Cat over chef-prepared dinners.

What Abigail’s Return Does to Salem

Here is what an Abigail DiMera return does to Salem. The custody clause becomes meaningless. Chad does not need to keep his distance from Cat because his actual wife is alive. Thomas and Charlotte get their mother back. Jack and Jen lose their legal pressure point. The clause was always about protecting the kids from the woman who lied about being their mom. The actual mom showing up makes the clause moot. Chad walks free with his marriage vows reactivated.

But it also wrecks Cat Greene. Cat has spent a year and a half rebuilding her credibility. She has fallen in love with Chad. She is undercover for the ISA working Rafe’s investigation against EJ. The moment Abby walks back into a room, Cat is back to being the woman who pretended to be the dead wife.

EJ DiMera holds every card. EJ has the lab, the pods, and Rolf on retainer. EJ also wants Cat for himself. Deliver Abigail back to Chad, and EJ gets his brother out of the way and Cat to himself. Delay the resurrection, and Chad is indebted to him forever. Either play wins.

Sophia Mattsson is the wild card. If she debuts as a totally new character with no Abby tie, the show is faking us out. If she debuts with amnesia and a face the audience does not quite recognize, Marci Miller’s torch has been handed off and the recast era is on.
