Cat Greene Says Yes to EJ’s Plan

Cat Greene has agreed to spy on Marlena, and somebody in Salem already knows exactly who she really works for. In the Days of Our Lives spoilers playing out this week, it all landed on Monday, October 19. That night in the park, Steve Johnson told Cat he knows about her past and present ties to the ISA. He said Shane Donovan filled him in so she would have some support in town.

Later that day EJ DiMera asked her for the one thing that could hurt the woman who once gave her a job. He wants Dominic Marino‘s birth certificate, and he wants Cat to find it in Marlena Evans‘s records. Cat did not want to betray Marlena’s trust. After a pause, she said yes.

The Password, the Kiss and the Rule She Is About to Break

Cat brought EJ the news first. Dominic pulled out of buying the Kiriakis mansion after it failed inspection, and EJ is sure Marino is playing games with all of them. He has to know if the man is really his brother. His plan is cold: get Marlena into a meeting, then use the password access Cat had back when she was Marlena’s assistant to go through the doctor’s records in secret.

EJ thanked her with a kiss and suggested they take it upstairs. Here is the part fans will love. Back in June, her ISA boss Andrew Donovan gave Cat one condition for getting close to EJ: no sex with him under any circumstances. She took his hand, and they were headed upstairs when George walked in and ruined the moment.

Steve’s offer came with history. He is the late Abigail’s uncle, and Cat once posed as Abigail in Salem. On Monday she apologized again for not going to the ISA when Clyde pressured her into that scheme. Steve told her it was in the past, warned her that EJ is dangerous and said to come to him if she ever needs help. Cat insisted she has it all under control.

Will Cat Greene Steal Dominic Marino’s Birth Certificate for EJ?

No preview says she does. The spoiler slate for the rest of the week has no Cat scene after Monday, and nothing shows her searching, stealing or handing over a thing. The one teaser left hanging is Thursday, October 22, when Steve’s investigation takes a shocking turn. Not one preview says what he finds.

Then there is the twist EJ has not caught. As our daily recaps covered it, Steve showed Marlena that certificate on his own phone on September 25. It lists Marlena as the mother and Stefano as the father, and paper is not proof of either. No episode since has shown Marlena keeping a copy. EJ is betting she has one, and the man who actually brought it to her just offered Cat his help.

Who Loses If That Paper Reaches EJ

Marlena loses first. A former assistant and a current patient going through her private files is a betrayal she would not forgive easily, and on September 28 she asked Steve to tell no one but Brady. Steve loses next. He just trusted Cat with his backup, and the document she would hand EJ is the one he carried to Marlena.

Chad DiMera heard from EJ on October 13 that Dominic may be their brother, and Belle Black got the story from her mother on October 8. With the paper in hand, does EJ go to them, or around them? Cat bet her job on EJ coming around last week, and now the bet has a price.

So what does Cat Greene do next? She could hand EJ the real thing, come back empty handed, go to Steve first or report straight to the ISA. Dominic still has no actor and no arrival date, and the wider spoiler slate has not said when he walks into Salem.

Cat Is Playing Both Sides, and Marlena Is the One Exposed

Our take: Cat Greene is not EJ’s spy. If Steve has it right, she is still working for the ISA while she holds EJ’s hand, and his visit says somebody is watching her back. My gut tells me she gets into Marlena’s records and finds nothing, because the only copy anyone has seen lives on Steve’s phone.
