Javi Hernandez Tells Leo Stark He Cannot Just Be Friends
Javi Hernandez finally stopped pretending on Thursday, October 22. He and Leo Stark met at Small Bar for their do-over date, the one Leo missed two weeks earlier because he was sitting in handcuffs. Both showed up early. They talked about the Housewives and the night they met, back when Leo was writing for Body and Soul.
Then Javi got serious. He told Leo he feared he was taking a risk investigating the counterfeit purses, and he wished Leo would stop going after EJ at the paper. “It’s dangerous,” he said. Leo shot back that Javi is the one who runs into burning buildings, so a guy tapping away at a keyboard is fine.
That is when Javi said he could not be friends with Leo anymore. Leo panicked that he had been too needy. “There is a reason I can’t be friends with you and it’s not what you think,” Javi said. He wanted more. Then he pulled Leo in for a kiss, the moment fans have been waiting on in these Days of Our Lives spoilers since the summer.
Why Javi Is Scared: The Fake Gabi Chic Bags Already Got Leo Arrested
Javi has reason to worry. As our daily recaps laid out, Gabi Hernandez spotted a knockoff of her own purse on Gwen’s arm on July 8, 2026. By August 31, Gabi was saying EJ was probably behind the fakes. On September 4, Leo told her he had posed as a buyer on the dark web, and Gabi paid for the buys. By September 29, Leo was wheeling boxes of knockoffs into his room at the Salem Inn.
On October 7, Shawn Brady walked in on an anonymous tip about a large purchase of counterfeit purses, found the boxes and cuffed Leo for knowingly possessing counterfeit merchandise. Javi was left waiting at Small Bar. Leo was released the next day after Gabi confirmed he was helping her, and Jada warned him to let the police handle EJ. He ignored her.
Here is the line most people missed. In that same episode, Rita Lesley greeted EJ DiMera with the news that Leo Stark had ordered a big supply of “their” handbags. Their.
No episode has shown who actually runs the fakes, and the tip is still anonymous. But that one word is the closest the show has come to putting the bags in the DiMera house. Javi already called the arrest “on-brand” for Leo in the episode where he agreed to a new first date.

Are Leo and Javi Back Together on Days of Our Lives?
Not officially. They are exes. Their wedding aired January 2, 2026, with Marlena officiating, and Dimitri von Leuschner crashed it. On January 20, Javi told Marlena not to file the certificate, so they were never legally married.
Gus moved out on Javi in August, saying it was clear Javi still loved Leo. On September 10 the two agreed to try friendship. Thursday’s kiss ended that experiment, but no recap shows Leo’s answer yet.
As for Dimitri, his last episode was August 19, when he let Leo go in Alamainia and dropped his vendetta against Gwen. Nothing announced brings him back, so for now the only thing standing between Leo and Javi is Leo’s story.
What Is Coming for Leo, Javi and the Fake Bags
No official preview for Friday, October 23, or the week of October 26 mentions them. One spoiler site teases that Leo and Javi will be coupled up again next week and that Leo might get information to help Gabi on the counterfeit handbags, though even that site only says “hopefully.” Nothing else on the spoiler slate confirms it. And Gabi told Leo on October 14 to burn the fakes, because she would rather let the counterfeiters get away than risk Philip relapsing. If Leo keeps going, he may be going alone.
So who is behind the bags? Rita and EJ top the list on the strength of that one word. Gabi has suspected EJ since August.
Some fans have floated Kate Roberts, Leo’s boss at the paper, but nothing on screen ties her to the fakes. Gus is pure speculation, and he is gone. Could Leo be the next target if he gets close? My gut says Javi’s warning is the setup, not the punch line.
