The reading begins. The lawyer opens the document. EJ is calm. Kristen DiMera is already plotting whatever she can scavenge from the wreckage. And then a section lands that nobody in the room saw coming. To Doctor Marlena Evans Black, my Queen of the Night, the following is bequeathed.

Salem stops breathing. Cat looks up. Kristen’s wine glass freezes halfway to her mouth. EJ’s jaw locks. The lawyer keeps reading because lawyers do not pause for emotional ambushes, and Stefano knew that. The first item on the list is a piece of jewelry from a private collection nobody knew existed. The Romanov sapphire pendant Stefano stole in 1987 and never gave to a single one of his wives. He kept it in a vault under the mansion for forty years waiting for the right moment to put it on Marlena’s neck. He never got to. He is doing it now.

The Hospital Bequest That Ends EJ’s Pharmaceutical Empire

Stefano left Marlena a controlling block of voting shares in University Hospital’s foundation. The hospital where she has practiced for forty years. The hospital EJ has been quietly buying influence in for the last eighteen months through DiMera medical research grants and a board seat he engineered through Doctor Rolf’s reanimation work. The Phoenix gave Marlena the keys to the building EJ has been using as his personal pharmaceutical laboratory.

Marlena Evans is now in a position to dismantle every covert DiMera medical project running through that hospital. The Versix file. The Rolf protocols. The reanimation research that just brought Lexie Carver back from a freezer. EJ’s entire pipeline of resurrected leverage runs through hospital infrastructure that Stefano just handed to the woman EJ helped imprison for testifying against Kristen DiMera.

Brady Black is going to read about this in the morning paper and laugh until he cries. Kristen is going to slap EJ a second time on principle. And Marlena is going to walk into University Hospital on Friday morning, sit in the foundation office she now controls, and start reading the medical files that EJ has spent two years burying.

Stefano Did Not Bequeath. He Weaponized.

Here is the truly diabolical layer of this bequest. Stefano did not give Marlena that hospital position because he loved her. He gave it to her because he knew exactly which one of his children would try to weaponize medical research the second the Phoenix was confirmed dead. Stefano spent his entire afterlife planning for the day EJ DiMera would try to become him, and he installed his old obsession as the failsafe.

The man who tortured Marlena for four decades is using her, from the grave, as the only person in Salem with both the moral spine and the institutional access to stop his son from rebuilding the empire on a hospital ward. Stefano did not love Marlena. He weaponized her. And the worst part is that she is going to take the position anyway, because if there is one thing Marlena Evans will never let happen, it is another DiMera using a hospital to harm the people she loves.
