Kate Played the Long Game and Bonnie Never Saw It Coming

Enter Kate. When Bonnie Kiriakis brought her romance manuscript to Titan, Kate rejected it, claiming they already had too many romance authors. But then she steered Bonnie toward DiMera Publishing. Bonnie, bless her heart, walked that manuscript right into the competition’s hands without ever suspecting she was a chess piece. The book is called One Rainy Afternoon. The name of Stephanie Johnson‘s bestseller which is Titan’s cash cow? One Stormy Night. If you don’t see where this is going, DiMera Enterprises didn’t either.

Meanwhile, Xander Kiriakis was playing his own angle. When Johnny DiMera came in for a meeting, Xander conveniently had Bonnie’s manuscript sitting on his desk. Johnny took the bait and started reading. At the same time, Xander got Johnny to sign an addendum ensuring he wouldn’t share proprietary Titan information with DiMera. He essentially loaded the trap and armed the trigger in one sitting while Johnny signed on the dotted line.

Now DiMera has fast-tracked Bonnie’s suspiciously similar novel, and spoilers confirm that Kate and Xander are planning to hurl a massive plagiarism lawsuit at DiMera Enterprises. The theory is that Johnny used proprietary Titan information to publish a copycat book, and that signed agreement is the smoking gun.

The Clock Is Ticking and the Money Might Not Come in Time

Which brings us to Thursday, when Sarah and Xander have what spoilers describe as a bit of a thaw. After months of ice, they’re finally making progress. But here’s the irony. Sarah Horton is not going to approve of Xander’s dirty corporate tactics once the truth comes out. Neither is Maggie Kiriakis. The very scheme Xander cooked up to save Victor’s legacy could destroy the fragile trust he’s rebuilding with the two women who matter most.
