Why Is Harrison Chase So Obsessed With Willow Tait?! He Threw Hands Over and Ex And We Have Questions!
Harrison Chase punched Michael after a comment about Willow and we have questions. Why is the married cop so defensive about his ex?
WHY IS THE MARRIED COP SO DEFENSIVE ABOUT HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND?
TL;DR: Michael asked Chase how long until he’s “back in Willow’s bed” and Chase responded by PUNCHING HIM. On General Hospital, we’re starting to wonder what’s really going on with the very married detective and his wildly inappropriate obsession with his ex.
That Reaction Was Very Telling, Detective
We need to talk about Harrison Chase on General Hospital, because this man just threw hands over a comment about Willow Tait and the defensiveness is giving us MAJOR pause.
Here’s what happened: Michael and Chase got into a heated argument at the Quartermaine mansion. Things escalated, as they do, and Michael decided to go for the jugular with one pointed question: “How long until you’re back in her bed, Chase?”
And how did our happily married detective respond? Did he laugh it off? Did he calmly assert his commitment to Brook Lynn? Did he act like a man who has absolutely nothing to hide?
NOPE. He punched Michael in the face.
That’s not the reaction of someone who has moved on, friends. That’s the reaction of someone who just got called out.

Let’s Review Chase’s Recent Behavior
Now, we’re not saying Chase is actively pursuing Willow. But we ARE saying that his behavior throughout this entire Drew saga has been… interesting. Let’s review, shall we?
Chase has been Willow’s most vocal defender throughout her trial. He testified on her behalf. He believed in her innocence so passionately that the ADA threatened him with prison for his “interference.” When Willow was acquitted, he showed up at her house with flowers. FLOWERS. For his ex-girlfriend. Who is married. While HE is also married.
And yes, yes, we know Chase was supposedly just being a good friend and standing up for justice. We know he and Brook Lynn are happily married with a child. We know he’s supposed to be one of the good guys.
But when someone suggests you might still have feelings for your ex and your immediate response is physical violence? That tells a different story entirely.
Brook Lynn Should Be Asking Questions
Here’s what concerns us: where is Brook Lynn in all of this? Does she know her husband has been obsessively defending Willow? Does she know he brought flowers to a married woman’s house? Does she know he just punched someone for suggesting he might not be over his ex?
Because if we were married to someone who reacted THAT violently to an accusation of lingering feelings, we’d have some follow-up questions. Several of them. Possibly delivered through a divorce attorney.
Chase and Brook Lynn have been through so much to be together. They have a beautiful family. They’re supposed to be solid. But Chase’s behavior around Willow has been raising red flags for weeks now, and that punch just turned those flags into giant flashing warning signs.
Michael Hit a Nerve
Here’s the thing about Michael’s comment: it was mean. It was designed to hurt. It was absolutely a low blow in the middle of an already heated argument.
But it also clearly struck a nerve.
If Chase had no feelings for Willow whatsoever, he would have rolled his eyes and walked away. He would have said “that’s ridiculous” and moved on. He would have reacted like someone who is completely secure in his marriage and unbothered by petty accusations.
Instead, he swung. Hard enough that they ended up in a full brawl that Jason had to break up.
We’re not saying Michael was right. We’re just saying Chase’s reaction suggests maybe, possibly, potentially… Michael wasn’t entirely wrong.
Port Charles might have a problem brewing, and her name is Willow Tait. Drew is lying in a hospital bed, Chase is throwing punches over accusations about his feelings, and somewhere Brook Lynn is probably blissfully unaware that her husband can’t seem to quit his ex-girlfriend.
This is going to get messy. And honestly? We’re here for every chaotic moment.
