TL;DR: Britt Westbourne asked Jason Morgan on a real date and he said YES. She even wanted him in a suit. Then Cullum showed up and demanded she disappear immediately or he’ll “get Jason out of her life” himself. On General Hospital, we truly cannot have nice things.

We Were So Close to Having Nice Things

American General Hospital fans, your episode got pre-empted today, but we watched it in Canada and we need to prepare you emotionally for what’s coming. Because just when something beautiful was about to bloom, the universe — in the form of WSB Director Cullum — came along and stomped all over it.

Let us set the scene: Britt Westbourne finally got her medical license situation sorted. She’s starting to feel like herself again. She tracked Jason Morgan down at the hospital, paid him back for that café bill because she wanted them on “equal footing,” and then she did something absolutely adorable. She asked him out on an official date.

And Jason said yes! He SMILED! She told him he’d need to wear a SUIT! It was giving romance! It was giving hope! It was giving “finally, something good is happening on this show!”

And then Cullum walked into her office and we watched our dreams crumble in real time.

Cullum Is Officially the Worst Person in Port Charles

The moment Britt was alone, Cullum slithered into her office like the villain he absolutely is. And what did he have to say? Not congratulations on the date. Not “good for you, Britt, you deserve happiness.” Nope.

He told her the Wyndemere lab project needs to be online in three months. He told her she needs to disappear. Not next week. Not tomorrow. NOW. As in immediately. As in she doesn’t get a single day to enjoy her life before being dragged back into Faison’s twisted legacy.

Britt tried to push back. She literally JUST got her life back. She has a date with Jason! She has friends again! She has HOPE! But Cullum doesn’t care about any of that. He gave her an ultimatum: leave now or lose her Huntington’s medication. You know, the medication that’s literally keeping her alive.

This man is using her disease as a leash and we are FURIOUS about it.

“Get Jason Out of Your Life, or I Will”

But wait, it gets worse! Because Cullum didn’t just demand Britt disappear. He also issued a threat that has us genuinely worried for Jason’s safety.

“Get Jason out of your life,” he told her, “or I will.”

OR I WILL. That’s not a suggestion. That’s not a polite request. That’s a threat from a man who is clearly capable of making people disappear, who is holding Anna captive somewhere and won’t show her his face, and who has zero qualms about manipulating Britt with her own mortality.

Jason Morgan has survived a lot of things, but he doesn’t even know Cullum exists as a threat right now. He’s out there thinking he has a date with Britt, probably wondering if he even owns a suit anymore, completely unaware that some shadowy WSB figure just put a target on his back.

Britt Deserves Better Than This

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how unfair this is? Britt Westbourne has been through EVERYTHING. She faked her death, got smuggled out by her father’s creepy colleagues, was forced to work on Faison’s project with a bomb strapped to her ankle, and finally — FINALLY — clawed her way back to some semblance of a normal life.

She reconnected with Brad. She’s spending time with Rocco. She was building something with Jason. For five beautiful minutes, it looked like Britt might actually get to be happy.

And now Cullum is ripping it all away because of a three-month deadline on whatever nightmare project Faison left behind. She doesn’t get a day. She doesn’t get an hour. She doesn’t even get to go on one date with a man she clearly cares about.

This is why we have trust issues with this show. Every time something good starts to happen, someone shows up to destroy it. Britt and Jason were RIGHT THERE and now she has to ghost him or watch Cullum “handle” the situation himself.

We’re not okay. We’re not going to BE okay. And American fans, prepare yourselves — this one hurts.
