“Wow!” That was Li Finnegan, listening to the baby’s heartbeat in Finn’s office, and the Bold and the Beautiful recap October 23 starts and ends with that one word.

Li thought it was too soon to hear anything and tried anyway. Steffy Forrester Finnegan and Carter both tried to talk her out of it. Daphne wanted everyone to hear it together, so Steffy had little choice but to sit down on the sofa. Then the heartbeat came through, and Li could not believe how strong it was this early.

Daphne Begs Finn to Be Happy for Them

The day opened right after Thursday’s blood test.

“It’s happening!” Daphne Rose Walton cheered. “Your child, Carter.” Carter Walton answered, “Our child, Daphne.”

The couple traded speeches while Li, Finn and Steffy looked on. Daphne remembered nearly leaving him to go back to Paris, and said he did whatever it took to give them a baby. Carter shot a look at a miserable Steffy.

Li made a speech of her own about all the medical appointments ahead and the need for an early ultrasound. Daphne told John Finnegan he would be part of this too. “I’m finally going to be a mother. What I’ve been wanting for so long.”

Then she pleaded, “Please, Finn. Be happy for us.” They hugged, and Li said she was ready to try for the heartbeat.

Yes. Li knew it was early and gave it a shot anyway, and the heartbeat came through strong. Here is why that one moment matters. By the surrogacy story, Steffy Forrester Finnegan is only about five and a half weeks along, early enough that a heartbeat can be hard to catch. If the baby dates to her night with Carter, as Steffy believes, she is closer to eleven and a half weeks, a calendar we laid out when Finn and Li started investigating.

Li has said nothing about dates. She is a doctor, though, and she just heard something she did not expect. My bet is that the early ultrasound she mentioned is the moment she starts doing the math.

Donna Warns Brooke to Keep Bill a Secret

Donna Logan was still stunned that Brooke turned to Bill. Brooke Logan said Katie is trying to get back at her for what happened with Bill all those years ago. Donna got choked up and said this would break the hearts of Storm and their mother.

Brooke blamed Katie for all of it. She knew calling Bill was risky, but she had to do something to stop her sister, and she hopes Bill can keep Katie from attacking Forrester and them. Donna warned that neither Ridge nor Katie would be happy about Brooke spending time with Bill. “If Katie gets even a whiff of it, she will go off.”

Donna kept pressing: Brooke cannot let it slip that she talked to Bill, just as our Donna secret spoilers set up. “Oh my God, Donna,” Brooke groaned. Donna warned it could complicate things in ways Brooke never intended. “You understand what I mean, right?”

Katie Logan Spencer Tells Bill, “This Is Not You!”

At Logan, Katie Logan Spencer reminded her husband she can read him better than anyone. “This is not you!” She grabbed his sword necklace and reminded him what it stands for. “I want to know what’s really going on here.”

She told him he seems like a man on a mission, and reminded him how much he loves humiliating Ridge. Bill Spencer reminded her how much she loves her sisters.

Katie shot back that Brooke kicked her out of the Logan family. Bill said they have all said things they regret. “Including you, Katie.”

Then he played his best card. The Logan sisters have always been close, and nothing in business compares to that. If they bury Forrester, she will lose Brooke and Donna.
