The actress has been giving everything the script asks of her, including a new edgy bob that Soap Hub read on March 2 as a “subtle middle finger” to Steffy’s rigid expectations. The trouble is, the writing keeps walking that fire back. Even Soap Central’s Bryce Cameron wrote on May 1 that Hope “needs to stop mulling over her future and just cut the cord from her mother.” When the recap columnists are openly calling out the regression on the page, fans are not imagining things. Annika is a four time Daytime Emmy nominee with the chops to play any version of this character. The writers’ room owes her better material than ultimatums she never follows through on.
