R.J. FORRESTER IS HAVING A THOMAS-LEVEL MELTDOWN OVER A FLIRTATION

TL;DR: Bold and the Beautiful keeps trying to sell R.J. Forrester as Electra’s heartbroken ex-boyfriend, but the receipts say otherwise. They had three weeks of April flirting set up by Ivy. Electra was in love with Will Spencer the entire time and only picked R.J. because Ivy STOLE her reconciliation letter to Will. Now R.J. is on Brooke’s couch demanding Daddy fire Will, doing the EXACT thing his half-brother Thomas spent half a decade doing to Hope. It is genetic.

Bestie, we need a sit-down talk about R.J. Forrester, because Bold and the Beautiful keeps trying to sell this man as Electra’s white knight and what we have actually been watching is a four-month meltdown over a girl who was never his girlfriend in the first place. They had a flirtation. A handful of dates. Some hand kisses, a lemon bar, a pool swim. That is the entire receipt. And now he is flat on the couch at Brooke’s demanding his father fire Will Spencer, the guy Electra has been in love with the whole time.

Sir. She was never yours. Get up.

Let’s Recap What R.J. and Electra Actually Were

Three weeks of dates in April. Ivy threw them together with one fully orchestrated lemon bar setup. Orchids that supposedly signified kisses. Pool flirting in bathing suits. A few kisses Electra herself later described as, and we quote, “RJ kissed me. I was waiting for Will.” That is the full archaeological record.

Meanwhile, the actual Wilectra story is documented in writing. Will and Electra had matching necklaces. They exchanged a reconciliation letter that Ivy STOLE so Will would never read it and Electra would think he had given up on her. Electra called Will her first love. Even at the height of the R.J. Forrester flirtation, the April 16 recap pointed out that despite all the kisses she had shared with him, she insisted she still loved Will.

So when R.J. lies on the couch this week mourning his lost great love, he is mourning a relationship that did not happen, with a woman whose heart was always somewhere else, that was only ever possible because his aunt committed mail fraud.

The Thomas Forrester of It All

Here is where it gets cosmically funny. R.J. is doing the EXACT thing his older half-brother spent years doing to Hope. The fixation on a woman who is in love with someone else. The convinced-she-deserves-better speeches. The campaigning at the office. The refusal to take no for an answer. The certainty that if he can remove the rival, the universe will deliver her into his arms.

It is genetic. Same dad. Same playbook. Different decade. The Forrester men cannot seem to evolve past the storyline where they decide a woman’s chosen partner is the obstacle and not, you know, the chosen partner.

The “It Is Me or Him, Dad” Ultimatum Is Unhinged

Now for the part where SOM officially requests R.J. spend quality time on Taylor’s couch. He came home, lay down, refused to leave for two days, and demanded his father fire the man his crush is currently in love with. Not transferred. Not reassigned. Fired.

“It is me or him, Dad,” he said. To Ridge. About a coworker. Whose only crime is being the man Electra actually picked.

That is not a heartbroken son asking his dad for a favor. That is a tantrum dressed up in business clothes. The man has the entire Forrester legacy at his fingertips, and his peak ambition this week is getting another employee terminated for being chosen by a woman R.J. only briefly dated.

R.J. Forrester Is the Obsessive One, Not Will

Here is the inversion the show keeps refusing to acknowledge. Will is in love with his girlfriend. He punched a guy who grabbed her arm after she walked away from him. That is many things, but it is not obsession.

R.J. is the one who needs Electra to be miserable to feel okay. He has been campaigning against her actual relationship for months over a flirtation she barely participated in. He follows her around Bikini Bar staring daggers while she has drinks with her partner. The Thursday recap literally diagnosed him with “an intensity that should get him booked for a few sessions on Taylor’s couch.” The show is telling us through its own narrator that this man is the problem, and Ridge is about to reward him for it.

Ridge Is About to Fold and Doom This Storyline

The maddening twist is that Ridge knows better. On Thursday he flat-out said he cannot fire Will because the boys like the same girl. Sense! Then he came home, watched R.J. lie there moaning about his ribs, and folded like a cheap lawn chair. By the end of the episode, he promised to “deal with this,” which is Ridge for the pink slip is coming.

We are about to watch Forrester Creations fire its only competent intern because the boss’s son cannot accept that a crush is not a contract. That is enabling. And it is going to land R.J. Forrester exactly where Thomas spent half a decade. Single, obsessed, and convinced the universe owes him a woman who already chose someone else on Bold and the Beautiful.
