IS TAYLOR HAYES LOSING HER MIND? RECKLESS DEACON SHARPE AFFAIR RAISES ALARMING RED FLAGS ON BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
TL;DR: Fans of Bold and the Beautiful are deeply split on whether Taylor Hayes’s secret affair with Deacon Sharpe is real romance or a full-blown mental health crisis. Ridge Forrester and Steffy Forrester fear the worst while Sheila Carter remains dangerously clueless about her husband’s betrayal.
A Psychiatrist Who Can’t See Her Own Spiral
Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) has spent her entire career helping other people process their pain. She’s the woman everyone turns to when their world falls apart. So how is it possible that she can’t recognize what’s happening to her right now?
Because something is very, very wrong.
Taylor’s secret affair with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) has the Bold and the Beautiful fanbase locked in one of the most heated debates we’ve seen in years. One camp says Taylor is finally choosing herself after decades of being Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) backup plan. The other camp? They say this is a textbook emotional breakdown. And the evidence is hard to argue with.
Let’s look at the facts. Ridge broke their engagement in late January and immediately married Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). Just weeks later, Taylor is sleeping with her therapy patient’s husband. Not just any husband, either. Sheila Carter’s (Kimberlin Brown) husband. The same Sheila who put a bullet in Taylor Hayes years ago and left her for dead on the floor.
That is not the behavior of a woman thinking clearly.

Steffy Sees What Nobody Else Will Admit
Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) has been through this before. She’s watched her mother spiral after every single one of Ridge’s rejections. The drinking that killed Darla. The shooting of Bill Spencer. Every time the pattern starts the same way, and every time the ending gets worse.
So when Steffy discovered her mother was carrying on a forbidden romance with Deacon while Sheila sits at home planning Valentine’s surprises? She did the only thing she could think of. She told Ridge.
Honestly, Steffy might be the only person in this entire storyline operating with any common sense.
Ridge confronted Deacon on Monday and demanded he stay away from Taylor. But here’s where the hypocrisy gets thick enough to choke on. Ridge created this situation. He shattered Taylor’s heart for the hundredth time, sprinted to the altar with Brooke, and now wants to play protector? You chose Brooke, Ridge. You don’t get to choose for Taylor too.
Still. Even a hypocrite can accidentally be right. And the people around Taylor are starting to see cracks that she refuses to acknowledge.
The Sheila Problem Nobody Is Taking Seriously Enough
Everyone keeps talking about Ridge’s ultimatum and Taylor’s feelings and Deacon’s intentions. Meanwhile, the real threat in this situation has a name. Sheila Carter.
Sheila has been making what she genuinely believes is a real effort to change. She’s trusting the therapy process. She’s planning romantic gestures for her husband. She has absolutely no idea that the therapist she’s been grateful to has been kissing Deacon behind her back.
When Sheila finds out, and she absolutely will find out, the reaction will not be tears and a calm conversation. This is a woman who has shot multiple people, faked her own death more times than anyone can count, and nearly destroyed the entire Forrester family on multiple occasions. Taylor already survived one bullet from Sheila. Tempting fate a second time is either incredibly brave or dangerously reckless.
The fan community seems to be leaning toward reckless. By a landslide.
What’s Next for Taylor Hayes?
Could this affair be leading to a legitimate mental health storyline on Bold and the Beautiful? Don’t be surprised if the writers are building something deeper than a simple forbidden romance. A psychiatrist who can heal everyone except herself is genuinely compelling television. But only if the show commits to exploring the trauma rather than using Taylor’s pain as a launchpad for Sheila’s next violent chapter.
Given her history, this likely leads in one of two directions. Either her family stages an intervention that forces Taylor to confront what Ridge’s constant rejection has done to her over the years. Or Sheila discovers everything first and the situation turns violent before anyone can help.
Taylor Hayes is running out of borrowed time. And the clock is ticking faster than anyone in Los Angeles realizes.
