Y&R Spoilers: Adam Newman’s Riza Thomson Kiss Plants a Dangerous Seed That Could End Chadam for Good
Adam Newman was kissed by Riza Thomson on Y&R March 23. Does he tell Chelsea? Could this one moment end Chadam for good? Spoilers inside.

TL;DR: On March 23’s The Young and the Restless, Adam Newman heads deeper into dangerous Las Vegas territory after Riza Thomson pulls a gun on him, searches him for a wire, and then kisses him — while Chelsea Lawson is back in Genoa City already convinced something has gone terribly wrong.
This is not a one-episode bump in the road. What happened between Adam and Riza Thomson in that Las Vegas hotel room has the makings of a slow-burn disaster — the kind that does not explode right away but builds quietly until it takes everything down with it. And if the show’s decision to put Chelsea Lawson’s anxiety on screen on the exact same day that kiss happened tells us anything, it is that these two storylines are going to collide hard.
What Happened Between Riza Thomson and Adam in Las Vegas?
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) did not go to Las Vegas looking for trouble. He went there to help his brother Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who is quietly spiraling into a dangerous fentanyl dependency after being targeted by Matt Clark. The only way to get close enough to find Matt was to pull out old underworld contacts — which meant resurrecting the Spider persona Adam spent years trying to leave behind.
That led him straight to Riza Thomson, the queen of the Las Vegas poker scene and someone who knows exactly who Adam was before he tried to become someone better. Riza did not exactly roll out the welcome mat. She arrived at his hotel suite holding a firearm, aimed it directly at him, ordered his hands behind his head, and physically patted him down looking for a wire. Then — even after Adam told her upfront that he was in a relationship with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) — Riza closed the distance and kissed him anyway.
That kiss was not about affection. It was a power move. A test. A trap. And now Riza is holding something she did not have before.
Does Chelsea Lawson Know What Happened?
Not yet — but Chelsea already knows something is wrong. The show did not write her anxiety into the March 23 episode by accident. Chelsea is emotionally dialed in to Adam, and while she does not have the details, she has the feeling. That is not a small thing in soap storytelling. When a character is shown sensing danger before the full picture is even revealed, the show is promising you she is going to be proven right.
The real question is whether Adam gets ahead of this or lets the silence grow. My gut tells me he convinces himself the kiss was operationally meaningless — that it happened to protect his cover, that it did not mean anything, and that Chelsea does not need to know. That is exactly the kind of reasoning that turns a manageable situation into an irreversible one.
Will Riza Thomson Use the Kiss Again?
Count on it. Riza did not kiss Adam Newman on impulse. She did it to see how he would react, to confirm she still has some hold on him, and to give herself something she can use the next time she needs him to fall in line. That is how she operates. She is calculating, she is tactical, and she just handed herself a weapon.
Don’t be surprised if Riza references the kiss the moment Adam tries to push back on any part of this operation. She does not need to threaten Chelsea directly. All she has to do is remind Adam what she knows — and suddenly he is no longer running this mission. She is.
What Is Next for Chadam?
Reading between the lines, the show is building toward a moment where Chelsea finds out — and when that happens, Adam Newman will have a very hard time explaining why he said nothing. Could this mean a third party gets involved? Could Riza find a way to reach out to Chelsea directly? Something tells me it will not be Adam who delivers this news, and that is exactly what makes it dangerous. The writers put Chelsea’s worry on screen before any of this even happened. That is not just foreshadowing. That is a promise.
