WILL CANE ASHBY ASK LILY THE BIG QUESTION BEFORE LONDON?

Cane Ashby has been hinting at a second wedding for weeks, and now that Lily Winters is in the clear on Young and the Restless, the only question left is whether he asks before he flies to Jill’s side.

Lily Winters Hid Her Biggest Fear Until She Couldn’t

Lily Winters kept a cancer scare to herself for over a week, which is a heroic amount of silence for a woman whose ex-husband wears his heart on his sleeve and his hopes on his face. She confided in Nate Hastings first, then in Traci Abbott, and both of them told her to tell Cane Ashby. She finally did after a second round of tests, and he promised they would face it together.

Cane Ashby has not been subtle about where he wants this to go. At Billy Abbott’s bachelor party, he said he would marry Lily again tomorrow. Before the ceremony, he asked her to take a dive when the bouquet flew, and afterward he asked if she felt like topping the whole thing. She reminded him she wasn’t ready, and he dropped it with the grace of a man who is absolutely going to bring it up again.

Her “not ready” was never about him, though. Lily admitted she was scared of how much she needs him, and she worried a scare like this would ruin the fun they had finally found. That’s a woman who has already said yes in every way except the one with a ring in it.

Wednesday Handed Lily Her Miracle

Lily got her answer at a reception, on her phone, with the man she most wanted to tell nowhere in sight. Traci urged her to find Cane, she tried calling and got nothing, and she finally decided to look at the results alone. Then she bolted for the foyer, told him they were negative, and he spun her around like a man who had been holding his breath since the second test.

He had spent the week bracing to miss this moment. Tuesday, he worried about her getting results without him, and Lily told him Jill Abbott needed him more right now. So Cane was already arranging his own trip to London when the news arrived. She’s in the clear, and he still has a flight to catch to see Jill.

Cane Ashby Knows What Waiting Too Long Costs

Cane has watched Billy agonize over missing the chance to say goodbye to his own father, and he told Billy his own father was terrible but he was still there at the end. He also looked straight at Lily at the wedding and said it can take a scare to be reminded how much someone means. Traci said almost the same thing about repairing old wounds the second you can. When three people tell you not to wait, a smart man listens.

Is it possible he asks before he boards? Imagine him at Jill’s bedside, giving a family that badly needs good news the best news of all. Jill is a fighter who can still surprise everyone, and she would never forgive them for planning a wedding without her.

Lily might say no, of course. She told him Monday she wasn’t ready, and she has never said anything she doesn’t mean. But the fear that was keeping her at arm’s length is gone, and that’s exactly the kind of loophole Cane has been waiting for.

Will Lily say yes? Drop your thoughts in the comments below, we love hearing from you!

Good News Deserves A Big Question

Here’s where we land: Cane Ashby watched the woman he loves get her life back, and he’s already looking at flights. Maybe he waits until Jill is safe, maybe he asks the second he gets back, and maybe he can’t hold it in for one more minute. Whenever it happens, Lily has had her miracle, and soap fans know that a miracle is usually followed by a very big proposal.
