Victor Newman Sets His Sights on Cane Ashby

Matt Clark sits across from Victor Newman like an eager assistant waiting for a green light. “So, um, I am ready. Are we gonna start your plan for me to go get Cane Ashby?” Victor’s answer is one word. “Soon.”

Read that twice. Matt Clark, amnesiac, manipulable, and now apparently on Victor Newman’s leash, is being aimed at Cane Ashby. The same Cane Ashby who has been the alleged co-conspirator on the AI emails frame-up. The same Cane Ashby who just quietly funded the surgery that saved Malcolm’s life. The same Cane Ashby who has been trying, finally, to do right by the family he keeps half-orbiting.

Victor saw an opening. Phyllis lost her grip on Matt. Cane has been the one Newman target Victor never quite pinned down. The “soon” is not a brush-off. The “soon” is a loaded gun. Cane Ashby has no idea what is being built around him.

Sharon Toasts Noah at the Shadow Room Opening

Sharon Newman raises her glass to her son and a roomful of guests in Genoa City. “Here is to your success and the Genoa City Shadow Room.” Noah Newman gets his moment, and the moment carries history.

The Shadow Room was Matt Clark’s. Matt kidnapped Noah. Victor stripped the place from Matt and handed it to Noah as both protection and inheritance. Now Noah Newman is opening the GC outpost of that same name, on his own terms, with his mother toasting him in front of guests who watched him survive.

The fact that Matt Clark is loose in town as Noah pours champagne should worry every single Newman in that room. The fact that Victor is sitting down with Matt at the same time Sharon is toasting Noah should worry them even more. Victor has plans. Noah is celebrating. Cane Ashby is in the crosshairs. Nobody at the Shadow Room knows the full shape of the chess game running parallel to their toast.

Malcolm Surprises Stephanie and Holden in New York

In New York, the mood is also celebration. Malcolm Winters walks in on Stephanie Simmons and Holden Winterssharing a moment and grins. “Woah, could I get some of that?”

This is a man fresh out of major surgery. Stephanie sat vigil over him. Holden flew in for him. Lily called Cane Ashby to thank him for making the whole thing possible. And here Malcolm is, upright, mobile, surprising the two of them with the kind of energy that says the worst of it is behind him.

The dark joke writes itself. Cane Ashby paid for Malcolm’s life. Victor Newman is currently in Genoa City plotting how to take Cane’s life apart. The Winters family is toasting their patriarch’s recovery and has no idea their lifeline is about to become Victor’s next target.
