L;DR: On the May 12 episode of Young and the RestlessLily Winters surprises Cane Ashby on his luxury train with cookies, then storms Phyllis Summers‘ (Michelle Stafford) office to fight for him while Devon Hamilton watches his sister make what he believes is a devastating mistake.

The Red Flag Devon Saw Weeks Ago

Things are heating up fast in Genoa City. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) sat his sister down at Society on April 27 and delivered a brutal reality check about Cane Ashby‘s (Billy Flynn) bone marrow gesture for Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore). According to DevonCane‘s heroism was nothing more than a “grand gesture to win you back,” and he warned Lily Winters not to get caught in “Cane’s web.” This wasn’t even the first time he raised the alarm. Back on April 7, Devon described Cane as “a parasite in my brain,” insisting his sister was still in love with the man who emotionally torched her after she lost his AI-fueled corporate empire to Victor Newman in February. Devon‘s protective streak is in overdrive, and watching Lily defend Cane after everything is pushing him to his breaking point. The big question now is whether Devon‘s brotherly concern is rooted in love or in something a little more controlling.

Lily Channels Drucilla’s Wrath for Cane

Lily isn’t just ignoring Devon Hamilton‘s warnings, she’s blowing past them at full speed. On May 12, Lily marched onto Cane‘s private train carrying cookies and a soft smile, thanking him for stepping up as Malcolm‘s bone marrow match after Holden Novak (Nathan Owens), Mattie Ashby, and Charlie Ashby all tested negative. Then she did something nobody saw coming. Lily stormed into Phyllis‘ office and threatened to channel every ounce of hatred her late mother Drucilla once had for her if Cane goes down for the corporate sabotage charges Cane insists were faked by Victor. This is the same Cane who kissed Phyllis in her office in December right in front of Lily. The same Cane who got arrested by DA Christine Blair Romalotti on May 6. And Lily is still fighting for him like her life depends on it. Reading between the lines, this is not the behavior of a woman trying to move on.

What’s Next for Devon, Lily, and Cane?

Could this mean Lane is officially heading back to the altar? Don’t be surprised if these next two weeks change absolutely everything. Cane is scheduled to undergo bone marrow extraction surgery the week of May 18, and Lily is expected to be right there at his bedside. Mark my words, if Cane jumps bail to save MalcolmLily will move heaven and earth to protect him from prosecution. If Cane‘s heroism saves Malcolm‘s life, Lily‘s family resistance is going to crumble overnight. Meanwhile, Devon Hamilton has bigger problems brewing at home. His marriage to Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) is on the rocks after the Mariah Copeland plea deal blew up in his face. Something tells me Devon might be projecting his own marital chaos onto Lily‘s love life. If history is any guide, the brother who can’t fix his own house is going to keep yelling about everyone else’s. My gut tells me Lily and Cane‘s reunion may be unstoppable now, and the only thing Devon can do is watch it happen and brace for the heartbreak he predicted.

Sound off in the comments below! Do you think Lily is making the biggest mistake of her life by trusting Cane again, or is Devon way out of line trying to control his sister’s love story? Y&R fans, the floor is yours!
