Y&R Spoilers: Jack Abbott Chooses Nikki Newman Over Diane Jenkins — Is This the Beginning of the End?
Diane Jenkins Abbott catches Jack Abbott and Nikki Newman in an embrace on Y&R and erupts. She throws his pill overdose history in his face. Is this the final straw for their marriage?

DIANE JENKINS ABBOTT ERUPTS AFTER WALKING IN ON JACK ABBOTT AND NIKKI NEWMAN’S EMBRACE
TL;DR: Diane Jenkins Abbott catches Jack Abbott and Nikki Newman in an embrace at the Abbott house and completely loses it. She throws Jack’s past pill overdose in his face and reminds him that his history of rescuing Nikki has nearly cost him his life and his marriage. Spoiler outlets warn this could be the beginning of the end for Jack and Diane.
Diane Has Had Enough of the Nikki Newman Problem
There is only so many times a woman can walk into her own house and find her husband with his arms wrapped around his ex-wife before something inside her breaks. For Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters), that moment arrived on the February 12 episode of The Young and the Restless — and the fallout was vicious.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) showed up at the Abbott mansion to unload on Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about the chaos swirling around Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)’s corporate war. Jack did what Jack always does. He pulled Nikki into a comforting embrace like it was the most natural thing in the world. And Diane? She walked in on every last second of it.

She Pulled Every Receipt She Had
The moment Nikki left, Diane went off. And this was not some surface-level complaint about boundaries. She went straight for the jugular and reminded Jack that the last time he played hero for Nikki Newman, he ended up overdosing on pills and nearly dying in front of his own family. She had to call an ambulance for her own husband because he was too busy trying to shock Nikki into sobriety during her 2023 relapse.
That is not ancient history. That is trauma. And Jack standing there telling Diane that Nikki is not Victor and does not deserve to be collateral damage in the Newman-Abbott war only poured gasoline on the fire.
Here is the thing about Jack Abbott that drives Diane absolutely up the wall. He frames every single rescue mission as a duty of friendship. He genuinely believes that comforting Nikki is separate from betraying Diane. But Diane has the receipts that prove otherwise. The sponsor role in 2023. The pills he swallowed. The ambulance she had to call. The fact that her marriage nearly imploded the last time this cycle played out. And now it is happening all over again.
Jack Tried to Redirect and Diane Let Him — For Now
Jack tried to smooth things over on February 13 by pivoting to Valentine’s Day mode. Gifts, charm, and a “let us pause this fight until tomorrow” strategy that has Jack written all over it. Diane Jenkins Abbott agreed to shelve it for the night. But shelving a fight is not the same as settling one, and every fan watching knows that this bomb is still ticking underneath the surface.
What makes this even more explosive is that Diane is not wrong. Coverage from Soap Central confirms that Jack‘s protective instincts around Nikki have repeatedly triggered Diane‘s anger going back years. This is not insecurity. This is a documented, recurring pattern that has nearly destroyed the Abbott marriage before. Jack sees friendship. Diane sees a threat that has literally put her husband in an ambulance. The evidence is stacked in her favor and she knows it.
Could This Be the End of Jack and Diane?
Spoiler outlets have been pushing serious “marriage crumbling” language as the Nikki issue heats up. TV Insider’s 2026 preview explicitly warned of massive fallout for Jack and Diane Jenkins Abbott stemming from Victor and Nikki‘s actions. Don’t be surprised if Diane starts making moves to protect herself on both the personal and professional fronts. Her Jabot Classic pitch on February 18 already signals that she is building something that belongs to her and not to her marriage.
Could this mean Diane is quietly preparing for a future without Jack? Given her history of survival and reinvention, it would not be out of character. And if Victor is strategic enough to exploit this marriage tension during the corporate war — and when is Victor Newman not strategic enough — then Jack is walking into a trap he built with his own two hands.
One thing is certain. Diane Jenkins Abbott has spent years proving she belongs in that family and in that house. If Jack forces her to choose between her dignity and his ex-wife, he might not like her answer.
