TL;DR: On Y&R the week of May 25, Jack Abbott offers to be Nick Newman’s official addiction sponsor, Nick collapses in front of his family, and Victor Newman makes a shocking decision to save his son.

Did Jack Abbott Really Offer to Sponsor Nick Newman?

Yes, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) offered to be the official addiction sponsor for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) on the Friday, May 22 episode of Y&RNikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who had just agreed to be her son’s unofficial sponsor, accepted the offer on Nick’s behalf and promised to have him reach out to Jack. On paper, it makes sense. Jack beat his own painkiller addiction years ago, so he knows the road ahead better than almost anyone in Genoa City.

But here is the twist that changes everything. Right after making the offer, Jack pulled Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) aside and admitted he had stretched the truth with Nikki. He confessed that he told her Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was the mastermind behind the entire yacht drugging scheme, all to push her away from her estranged husband for good. So this rescue is not as pure as it looks.

Why Will This Send Victor Newman Over the Edge?

Victor and Nikki have been separated since the spring, and Victor is already furious that Jack swooped in to support Nikki through her own recent struggles. Now imagine how he reacts when he learns his oldest enemy has taken control of his biological son’s recovery. This is the kind of insult Victor never forgives.

The bigger problem is what Victor did first. He knew about Nick‘s addiction before Nikki did and kept it from her, and that secret is exactly why she refuses to come home. So while Victor stewed in silence, Jack Abbott positioned himself as the man with the answers. The stage is set for a confrontation that has been building for months.

What Happens to Nick Newman This Week?

Nick collapses in a terrifying scene on Wednesday, May 27. A sweating, struggling Nick drops his phone and crumples to the floor in front of VictorSharon Newman (Sharon Case), Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun). His life hangs in the balance, and the family that has been too busy fighting is suddenly forced to face just how sick he really is.

By Thursday, May 28, the fallout begins. Victor makes a shocking decision to help Nick, while Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) reaches out to Jack for help. Picture it: Jack Abbott standing in Nick’s corner at the very moment Victor is at his most desperate and his most dangerous. Meanwhile Nikki is haunted by troubling dreams, hinting that her own peace of mind is slipping away.

What’s Next for Jack Abbott and Victor Newman?

Could this mean an all out Newman versus Abbott war? Given Victor‘s history, do not be surprised if he treats Jack‘s involvement as an act of war rather than an act of mercy. This likely leads to a showdown where Victor demands Jack back off, only for him to refuse on principle.

And then there is the lie. Kyle now knows his father manipulated Nikki, which means it is only a matter of time before that secret detonates. If Nikki ever discovers that Jack twisted the truth to keep her from Victor, the friendship that has become her lifeline could shatter overnight. On top of all that, Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) has gone missing, and on Friday, May 29, Kyle gives Jack surprising news about his absent wife. Something tells me Jack has more on his plate than he can handle.

The week closes with Victor and Nikki joining forces to force Nick to face his issues. Will a near death scare finally pull these warring parents back together, or is this just the calm before the biggest storm yet?

This storyline has all the makings of a classic Genoa City explosion, with two stubborn rivals fighting over the same broken man. The fact that Jack is hiding a lie underneath his good deed only raises the stakes. Soap fans know that secrets like this never stay buried for long on the CBS soap.
