Matt Clark Almost Kissed Phyllis Summers Before Remembering He Was Her Hostage

After Patty’s “I am selling you to Victor” pivot, Matt Clark is back in Phyllis Summers‘ office at Summer’s Conglomerate, where she has called him to “explain” why she clobbered him over the head with a water bottle. Phyllis tells him she has FEELINGS for him. Real ones. The kind that make a woman tie a man up to keep him in town. Matt, who was bashed unconscious less than seventy-two hours ago by this same woman, walks back into the lion’s den anyway because his memory is gone and his judgment went with it.

He arrives. He clocks her portrait on the wall. “Wowza,” he says. Phyllis claims it’s a tongue-in-cheek homage to the man she replaced. Matt confronts her about Patty’s accusation that she has been manipulating him. Phyllis says she “really really” likes him. She inches closer. She tells him she felt an instant connection. He leans in. They are an inch from kissing. The room is HUMMING. The viewers are SCREAMING. Then they awkwardly pull away. The MOMENT.

Matt asks if he is married. Phyllis explains he is married to a woman named Sienna who happens to be in a relationship with the kid who attacked him. Reader. The MARRIED kid attacked him over his WIFE. Matt Clark laughs and says maybe this means he is not the monster everyone says he is. The man is finding solace in a love triangle he cannot remember. Y&R writers, you are absolutely showing off and we are eating it with a spoon.

Patty Williams Declares She Will Be the Next Mrs. Jack Abbott at the Newman Ranch

Over at the Newman Ranch, Nick Newman pops a pill, walks in, and joins Victor. They debrief on Patty’s call about Matt and Adam’s tip that Nick is making side deals with Phyllis. Nick admits it. They have leverage. They can have Phyllis charged with harboring a criminal once she hands Matt over. Phyllis thinks Patty helped Matt Clark escape. Nick’s family meeting is interrupted by Patty Williams, who lets herself in, asks for a drink, and does not receive one.

She announces she is settling in Genoa City permanently. She wants Victor and Nick to vouch for her around town. She is going to become a prominent citizen. Then she drops the line of the WEEK. “I am going to be the next Mrs. Jack Abbott!” Victor laughs. Nick rolls his eyes. Patty reminds them she got Jack down the aisle “more than once, if he didn’t know it was her.” Reader. The PSYCHOLOGY. The HUBRIS. Patty Williams has officially decided that the Diane Jenkins era is over and the Patty Williams era is beginning. We are NOT okay.

Adam Finds Out Sally Is Pregnant and Has a Quiet Moment With Himself

Earlier at Society, Billy Abbott approached Adam Newman at the bar, bought him a DRINK, and told him casually that he and Sally Spectra are getting married. Then he dropped the bomb. Sally is PREGNANT. Adam wished them the best with the kind of strained pleasantness that registers on a Richter scale. Billy paid, walked out, and left Adam to think about it.

Chelsea Lawson arrived shortly after, mid-babble about OCD, and Adam told her. Chelsea, who has the emotional radar of a bloodhound, asked if he was jealous. He said no. The thing that was hitting him was the BABY. Chelsea, gently, asked if he was thinking about the baby he and Sally lost. He admitted he thinks about her every single day. Adam assured Chelsea he would not trade what they have for anything. Mark Grossman gave us a scene we will carry around for a week. Soft Adam is a national treasure.

Sally Asks Audra to Be Her Maid of Honor and Patty Pops Up to Annoy Jack

At Crimson Lights, Sally and Audra finalize a logo for their fashion line. Sally nearly faints when she stands. Audra orders her to eat a scone like a worried older sister. As Sally chews, she asks Audra to be her maid of honor. “Till death do us part,” they pinky swear. Reader, Audra and Sally locking eyes over a SCONE is more emotionally moving than half of Y&R’s funerals this year.

Billy walks in. Everyone celebrates. Then Jack Abbott walks through the door and Patty LEAPS UP like she has been waiting for him. She asks about the flowers. Jack tells her he has already thrown them in the trash. Patty does not understand. She thought they were going to collaborate. Jack tells her flat out he has no interest in a relationship with her. Patty smiles like a woman with a plan and warns him she has never met a challenge she did not relish. Y&R, we know how this ends. We have seen it before. We are sweating already.

Jack Vents to Traci at the Abbott Estate About the Patty Situation He Started

Back at the Abbott Estate, Jack arrives needing a STIFF drink. Traci Abbott senses he is stressed. He tells her about the stomach-turning encounter with Patty at Crimson Lights. They wish Patty had stayed away. They discuss the break with Diane and how neither of them thought it would last this long. Jack feels like the bad guys won.

Traci, who has been Jack Abbott’s emotional support sister for forty years, tells him not to waste his energy on Victor and Patty. She is confident he can win Diane back. She has more faith in Jack than Jack has in himself. Beth Maitland is a TREASURE. Reader, give Traci her own subplot and we will subscribe to whatever Y&R is selling.

Victor and Nick Crash Phyllis’s Office Mid-Almost-Kiss

Back at Summer’s Conglomerate, after the kiss that did not happen, Nick gets a text from Phyllis and shows it to Victor Newman. The Newman patriarch decides this is OVER. He marches over to her office with Nick in tow. They burst in. They find Phyllis with Matt. Matt looks at the Newmans, recognizes Nick as the guy who PUNCHED him in the face, and the room temperature drops twenty degrees.

Phyllis is FURIOUS that Nick brought his father. Victor declares this ends now. Reader, Matt Clark is meeting his former tormentors face to face with no memory of who they are and they have NO idea he has spent an episode flirting with the woman who tied him up. Y&R, the cliffhanger is GOURMET. Buckle in.
