Matt Clark Begged Victor in the Gym to Choose Whether He Lives or Dies
Victor Newman walks into the Newman Ranch gym, sits across from Matt Clark, and asks the question only Victor can ask. Are the memories back? Matt confirms they ARE. Every awful one. He is, in his own words, a VICIOUS human being. Victor says saving his son’s life does not wipe away what Matt has done to the Newman family. Matt agrees. He thinks he has NO soul. There is no way back for him. He wants to be PUNISHED. The world would be a better place without him.
Reader, Roger Howarth dropped to his knees emotionally and dragged us with him. Matt Clark BEGS Victor to decide his fate. He says he would do himself in before he ever became that guy again. If Victor lets him live, Matt will PROVE he is different. If Victor tells him what to do to make amends, Matt will do it. Reader, Y&R wrote a death-bed confession from a man without a death-bed and Eric Braeden absorbed every word like a priest hearing his hardest sin. The temple in his jaw was a STORY UNTO ITSELF. Matt Clark is no longer asking for forgiveness. He is asking for sentencing.
Is Matt’s redemption real or is the memory-back version going to slowly slide back into the man he was? Send us your hottest Matt Clark redemption theories to [email protected] and we might publish them on the site!
Matt’s Memory Returned at the Shadow Room and He Could Not Stop Apologizing
Earlier, at the Genoa City replica Shadow Room, Matt’s memories came RUSHING back. He started weeping and shuddering. He apologized to Sienna Clark over and over and told her she should NOT be around him. He paced. He rubbed his hands like he was trying to clean Lady Macbeth off them. He admitted he LIKED hurting people. He does not want to feel that anymore. Sharon Newman and Nick Newman watched, confused. They thought the darkness would come BACK with the memories. Instead they got a sobbing man rubbing his palms raw.
Matt tried to leave. Nick stopped him. Matt said, “I don’t want to die. Not like this.” He BEGGED for the chance to make it right. Sharon wanted to call the cops. Nick said no charges would stick and called him “useless to us now.” Then Nick ordered Matt up and walked him out. Noah Newman poured a round of drinks for the women left behind. Sienna said the line that will be on the gravestone of this storyline. “The monster has turned into a man.” Reader, Y&R let an amnesia arc become a redemption arc in one episode and we are watching genre tectonics in real time.
Nick Tells Victor at the Newman Ranch That the Shadow Room Fried Matt’s Brain
Back at the Newman Ranch, Nick goes upstairs to brief his father. He explains the Shadow Room field trip fried Matt’s brain. The memories are back. The MAN is not. Matt looks like the wreckage of a person, not a kingpin. Nick admits he wanted Matt out of their lives forever, but the version that exists right now is already gone. Victor reminds him Matt saved his life. Nick concedes it. Victor tells Nick to focus on his own recovery and let HIM observe Matt to see what the memories trigger.
Reader, Y&R is having Victor of all people take CUSTODY of the man who terrorized his family because Victor owes Matt Clark a thousand percent and the Mustache is paying his debt. Eric Braeden is doing the most muted Emmy work of his career. Hand him every trophy.
Victor Thanks Phyllis at the Newman Ranch From the Bottom of His Newman Heart
Earlier, at the Newman Ranch, Victor barked at his security team to find out what Nick was doing with “that punk.” Then Phyllis Summers walked in looking for Nick. Victor invited her to stay for a talk. The two of them sat together and went through how Nick had become a fentanyl addict. Phyllis admitted she had NO idea Matt was a dealer. Victor admitted the man who put a needle in his son also saved his life. He could not get it out of his head. He thanked her, from the bottom of his Newman heart.
Phyllis pointed out that Matt was a hero too. She froze. She did not know CPR. Victor thanked her again. She told him she loves Nick. He told her his children are his HEART. Phyllis asked him to let Nick know she needs to see his face. Reader, Phyllis and Victor sat down together like grown-ups and we are RATTLED. Y&R, are we evolving?
Nick Turns on Phyllis at the GCAC and Pulls the Company Out From Under Her
Later, at the GCAC, Nick walks in to find Phyllis waiting. She HUGS him and tells him how scared she was. He thanks her for saving his life and for handing Matt over. So far so wholesome. Then she asks about the FENTANYL. He says do not worry about it. Do not tell Summer. Phyllis asks what is happening with Matt and if SHE is still going to prison.
That is when Nick PIVOTS. He points out she was harboring a fugitive. She reminds him HE was harboring a fugitive too. He says they never paid his hotel bills. He tells her she is NOT keeping Summer’s Conglomerate. Phyllis is FLOORED. He PROMISED her she could. He threatens to call the cops and tell them she knowingly sheltered a criminal. Phyllis stares at him. “Why are you talking like this? Who are YOU?” Reader, Nick Newman went into that hug a grateful son and came out of it a Newman through and through. The double-cross is COMPLETE. Phyllis is on the floor and we are watching Joshua Morrow’s range expand in REAL TIME.
Adam and Sally Talk About Their Daughter at the Chancellor Park Café
Across town at Chancellor Park, Adam Newman ran into Sally Spectra and wished her every happiness. Sally said he should have heard about the baby from her, not Billy Abbott. Adam admitted Billy was “as classy as he could be,” which made Sally laugh. She asked Adam how he really felt. Adam admitted he was SAD that their daughter is not there.
Sally told him she sees her daughter in her dreams. The girl is a “GLOW of love.” In her last dream, they went to the beach. It was warm and soft. The girl was safe because of Adam. Reader. RE READ THAT. Adam was the SAFETY. Sally said she misses her daughter when she wakes up but feels like she is PART of her now. Adam told her she is going to give this new baby the world. Mark Grossman and Courtney Hope have given us a quiet ten minutes of grief and grace and we are WEEPING.
Whose Tuesday move has you shook? Matt begging for sentencing in the Newman gym? Nick pulling Summer’s Conglomerate out from under Phyllis after she saved his life? Or Sally telling Adam she saw their daughter in a dream? Sound off because we need to talk!
