MATT CLARK IS BLOODIED, BREATHING, AND ASKING DIRECTIONS TO THE GENOA CITY ATHLETIC CLUB

TL;DR: Matt Clark is alive on The Young and the Restless, banged up at a roadside diner, holding up a GCAC membership card and asking the waitress how far he is from the most exclusive address in Genoa City. Meanwhile, Patty Williams strolled into the GCAC and greeted Victor Newman and Diane Jenkins like a woman who has never been told no in her life, and Cane Ashby got slapped in handcuffs in front of a sobbing Lily Winters.

Matt Clark Got the Last Laugh and It Is Wearing a Bruise

Matt Clark is alive. We have been telling you this all week and the preview confirmed it. The man is bruised, bloodied, and clearly disoriented, but he is sitting at a roadside diner like he has somewhere to be. A waitress notices the bandage on his forehead and asks if he is okay. Matt does not answer her question. Matt has a question of his own.

He holds up a Genoa City Athletic Club membership card and asks how far away he is from this place.

Sit down. Lock the doors. Tell Sienna Bacall the killer she remembers in her foggy little flashbacks is currently ordering coffee and asking for directions. The man Sienna swore was definitely dead, definitely on the ground, definitely not breathing the last time she looked, is on his way to the most predictable address in Genoa City. The GCAC is where the Newmans drink. The GCAC is where everyone Matt has a score to settle with eventually shows up.

Matt Clark is not coming back to Genoa City to lay low. Matt Clark is coming back to finish what he started.

Patty Williams Strolled Into the GCAC Like a Woman Who Belongs There

While Matt is still asking for directions, Patty Williams has already arrived. She walks into the GCAC and finds Victor Newman and Diane Jenkins sitting at the bar together having what looks like a perfectly civil cocktail.

“Hello, you two! Can the day get any better?” she chirps, lit up like a woman who has been handed a Christmas gift she did not buy for herself.

The audacity of the moment is layered. Diane is sitting next to the man who manipulated her husband onto a yacht with a known psychopath in the first place. Victor is sitting next to the woman whose marriage he helped wreck. And Patty Williams, the literal psychopath in question, walks in and treats them both like old friends. Diane’s face is going to do a thing. Victor’s face is going to do a thing. Patty is going to enjoy every single second of it.

Whatever Patty came to do, she came to do it in front of Diane on purpose. The woman is many things. Stupid is not one of them. Patty Williams is positioning herself in the middle of Diane Jenkins’ marriage one day at a time, and Genoa City is going to wake up one morning and realize she has been there all along.

Cane Ashby Got Cuffed and Lily Winters Is Falling Apart

Cane Ashby cannot catch a break. The man stepped up as a stem cell donor for Malcolm Winters. The man earned a hug from Stephanie Simmons. The man got a cheek kiss from Lily Winters. The man finally, finally had a good week.

The cops walked in and put him in handcuffs.

“Oh my God! This can’t be happening!” Lily wails as Christine ushers Cane out the door.

“No, Lily, it’s fine, alright. Amanda will post my bail. I promise you I will get to New York,” Cane insists.

The man has a flight to New York he is determined to make. We are going to need that explained, Y&R. Cane Ashby is being arrested for what we presume is the Dumas mess catching up with him at the worst possible moment, and his immediate concern is getting on a plane. Whatever he is going to New York for is bigger than the bail. Whatever is in New York is the reason this entire arc has been building. And Christine Blair, brand new DA with a personal axe to grind, is the one putting him in cuffs in front of his ex-wife.

Lily is going to crack. Cane is going to disappear. New York is going to swallow whatever secret he has been protecting whole. Stephanie’s “something else going on” line about the stem cell match is going to make sense in about three episodes and we are not ready for any of it.
