Yes, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) is officially defending Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) on The Young and the Restless, and he just torched roughly 25 years of loyalty to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to do it. Tuesday’s episode ended with Victor throwing Michael out of the Newman ranch with the words “don’t you come back” ringing in his ears.
Wednesday picks up exactly where that bombshell left off. Michael and Phyllis regroup at Summers Conglomerate to launch damage control, and the strategy session is going to get ugly fast. Phyllis wants to throw Cane under the bus. Michael wants to prove Victor’s AI evidence was fabricated without admitting Phyllis actually stole the company. Good luck threading that needle.

No, and any first-year law student could probably argue it. Christine Blair Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) walked into Phyllis’ office on Tuesday with one uniformed officer and a smug little speech about “putting personal feelings aside.” Are we supposed to forget the 32-year feud? The 1994 hit-and-run that nearly killed Christine and Paul Williams? The falsified Daniel Romalotti Jr. paternity? The wedding reception Phyllis crashed five months ago?
Even better, Victor personally recommended Christine for the DA job. So now the man framing Phyllis Summers with AI-fabricated evidence handpicked the prosecutor who happens to be her mortal enemy. That’s not a courtroom, that’s a Newman cartel operation with a notary stamp.
Will Cane Ashby Still Make It to New York for Malcolm Winters?
It’s unclear. Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) gets arrested at the GCAC on Wednesday, with Christine showing up to slap corporate sabotage charges on him in front of Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). The timing could not be worse. Cane is supposed to be flying to New York to be the bone marrow donor for Malcolm Winters, and now Lily is begging Christine for an ankle monitor or police escort so the trip can still happen.
Cane is calling Amanda Sinclair to handle bail. He’s vowing to Lily that he’ll make it to New York no matter what. Christine is making zero promises. The DA is running through this case like she has something personal to prove, which she absolutely does.
What’s Next for Michael and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin?
Could this mean the Baldwin marriage finally collapses under the weight of Victor’s grip? Don’t be surprised if Victor targets Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) directly. She works for Phyllis Summers at Summers Conglomerate, she’s the one who pushed Michael into Phyllis’ corner, and Victor never lets a betrayal go unanswered. Reading between the lines, the Baldwins just put themselves first on Victor’s hit list.
Given Michael’s history, his gut tells him this case is unwinnable on the merits, which means his only path forward is exposing Victor’s AI scheme in open court. That’s a nuclear move that could blow up Genoa City’s entire corporate ecosystem and finally answer whether anyone in this town owns a copy of the bar association rulebook.
