NICK NEWMAN PLOTS MATT CLARK’S MURDER WITH A PAID WITNESS

TL;DR: On Wednesday, May 13, Young and the Restless hands us Nick Newman in full vigilante mode. Nick is going to find Matt Clark, end him personally, and have a cop on payroll ready to swear under oath it was self-defense. Sharon Newman is begging him to stop. Adam Newman is quietly working with Victor to take Nick out of his own operation entirely.

Nick Newman Pre-Books a Self-Defense Alibi for a Murder He Has Not Committed Yet

On Wednesday, Nick Newman walks into his ex-wife’s house, sits his son down, and lays out a plan even Victor would call “a lot.” He is going to track Matt Clark down. He is going to confront him. And he is going to kill him in “self-defense,” with Burrow conveniently present to swear under oath that it was. Y’all. He pre-booked the alibi. He shopped for a corrupt witness like he was picking out a backsplash. The audacity is staggering. The audacity is glorious. The audacity is Nick Newman in May.

Sharon Newman is begging this man to back down. She tells him premeditated murder is not okay, a sentence no woman should have to say to her ex-husband in her own living room before noon. She wants him to treat his addiction and let the team finish the job. Nick refuses. Says he is done. Says he is finishing this himself. Mama is doing the LORD’S work and the writers gave Sharon Case a monologue that is going to live in the highlight reel.

Adam Newman and Victor Cook Up a Plan B Without Telling Plan A

Earlier in the day, Adam Newman and Nick have a conversation at the Newman Ranch where Adam asks his brother point blank if he is using again. Nick claims he is detoxing. Nick claims he is hangry. Nick claims a soccer mom in the park is not slinging him pills. Adam, who is a noted enthusiast of “moral flexibility,” still draws the line at “let me murder a guy and call it self-defense.” He warns Nick this is a life sentence waiting to happen. Nick walks out like a man on a mission. He should be on a couch.

Then Victor arrives. Adam fills him in. Adam pitches taking Nick Newman out of the equation entirely. Victor mutters “damn drugs” the way only Victor Newman mutters “damn drugs,” and the patriarch and his second-favorite son are officially cooking up a Plan B without consulting Plan A. The man whose plan is being benched does not even know he has been benched. Iconic. Truly iconic.

Victor and Noah Brief Sharon on the Matt Clark Situation

Before all of that, Victor stops by Sharon’s house to update her on the Matt manhunt. Matt is alive. Matt’s location is a mystery. Matt’s amnesia might actually be real. Noah Newman chimes in that real amnesia means Matt will not see them coming if they strike hard and fast. Sharon, the only adult in the room, wants to leave it to professionals. Victor agrees with Noah. Sharon’s stress migraine forms in real time and we feel it from here.

She does not know yet that her ex-husband is currently across town pre-booking a corrupt cop for a homicide. She is about to find out. The writers staggered this reveal like a horror movie. Bless.

Matt Clark Asks Phyllis to Dinner and We Are Speechless

Over at Crimson Lights, Patty Williams is reminiscing to Matt about her high school years and her old boyfriends, including a certain Danny Romalotti who grew up to be a rock star. None of it rings a bell for Matt. Then Phyllis Summers arrives, takes one look at Patty, and runs her out of the cafe like she’s at a Hot Topic clearance sale.

Matt watches the carnage like dinner theater. He observes that Phyllis seems to enjoy fighting Patty. She admits she does. “Punk rock,” he says. Then this absolute MENACE pivots, says he has skills he can use to help her, and asks if she’ll buy him dinner so they can figure out what those skills might be. A memory-less drifter just asked Phyllis Summers out on a working date at her own cafe and she did not say no. Then he mentions his name is “Matt Clark.” Phyllis stares. The writers fed us. We are stuffed.

Lily Urges Devon to Face Mariah Before He Implodes

Over at Society, Lily Winters joins her brother Devon Hamilton and Nate Hastings for wine. She is flying to New York the second Cane Ashby‘s stem cells are harvested for her father. Devon spirals about how Mariah Copeland is not facing a jail cell for traumatizing his family. Lily reminds him Mariah is sick, not evil, and tells him to go face her himself. Devon also confesses Dominic is asking to see Mariah, which is the saddest sentence Devon Hamilton has uttered all year.

Lily exits with a plea to keep Cane in their thoughts for Malcolm’s sake. Nate checks on his cousin. Devon promises to look at his anger but doubles down on the Cane Train hate. Y&R is asking us to feel things in five different storylines today and we are simply going to comply.

Who is right here? Sharon, who wants the cops to handle Matt? Adam, who wants Nick benched? Or Nick, who wants to commit murder with a paid witness on the clock? Sound off because we need to talk!

WATCH NOW: Do you want Nick sober? I don’t and here’s why!

@soapoperamag #NicholasNewman Did the Confession Tour… Now Can He ACTUALLY Put Down the Pills on Y&R?! He told Victor. He told Nikki. Sharon's setting up outpatient. Hit play because we are NOT convinced this is the end of his spiral! #YR #YoungandtheRestless ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
