NICK NEWMAN DOESN’T NEED SMARTIES ANYMORE, HE NEEDS CHILL PILLS

TL;DR: Young and the Restless fans watched Nick Newman fight his way off the pills, and now he’s beaten his old dealer so badly he’s having flashbacks and wondering whether the man is still breathing. Victor is keeping secrets to protect him, Nikki wants answers, and the Y&R spoilers say the Newmans are in damage control. Nick got clean, then got a brand new addiction: his temper.

Clean, Sober and Swinging

Nick Newman didn’t beat his addiction so much as trade it in. He stood in front of his family, admitted he had a drug problem, and did the hard work of getting off the pills. Then his friend Marie Kirkland overdosed again, and every ounce of that recovery went straight into his fists.

Nick decided his old dealer was personally responsible, and he vowed out loud that the man was a dead man. Then he went out and made it physical. He beat the guy up, and now the flashbacks won’t stop. Nick is replaying the fight in his head and wondering whether his dealer is lying somewhere dead.

His family saw this coming before he did. Adam Newman went hunting for him because the Newmans feared a relapse, and Sharon Newman had to talk him down at Crimson Lights. Nobody was worried about the right drug.

Victor’s Cleanup Crew Is Already on the Clock

Victor Newman is playing his cards close to the vest to protect his son, which is Victor’s love language and his favorite crime. The Mustache has buried bigger problems than a bruised drug dealer, and he won’t ask anyone’s permission to do it again.

That’s exactly what makes this so dangerous. Victor’s help never comes free, and it never stays quiet forever.

If that dealer is dead, Victor isn’t protecting Nick from an alley brawl. He’s helping him hide a body. Is Nick Newman really safer with Daddy in charge of the cover story?

Nikki Isn’t Buying the Calm Act

Nikki Newman interrogates Nick, and she’s the worst possible person to lie to. Nick himself has said that watching his mother battle her own addiction is part of what made admitting his problem so hard. Nikki knows the signs better than anyone on that ranch.

She has spent decades reading her children like headlines, and right now Nick’s has trouble written all over it.

She also knows the look of someone hiding something worse than a craving. Nick can tell her he’s clean, and he’d be telling the truth. What he can’t tell her is what his hands did to another man. How long does a son keep that from the one woman who always knows?

The Temper Is the Real Relapse Risk

Here’s the thing nobody at the ranch wants to say out loud: Nick doesn’t need pills to wreck his life. Rage, guilt, and a possible manslaughter charge will do the job faster.

Every recovering addict knows the danger of a crisis, and Nick has created his own. Nick Newman survived a car wreck, surgery, and fentanyl, and the thing most likely to take him down now is his own right hook.

If that dealer turns up dead, the guilt alone could send Nick back to the one thing that ever made the noise stop. If he turns up alive, he knows exactly who put him in the hospital, and he has every reason to make Nick’s life miserable. Either way, the hothead keeps writing checks the sober man has to cash.

Is Nick a hero for going after the dealer or a disaster waiting to happen? Drop your take in the comments and let’s hash it out!

Somebody Hand Nick a Chill Pill

The Newmans spent months watching Nick Newman for the wrong warning signs, counting pills when they should have been counting his punches. The man is sober, scared and possibly a killer. Somebody get him to a meeting before he gets to a courtroom.
