The Newmans Scramble to Save Nikki Before Time Runs Out

At the hospital, Nikki Newman is unraveling, and not because she is being dramatic for once. The vision issues have turned relentless, the pain keeps climbing, and the woman who blamed everything on stress can no longer pretend. She tells Victoria Newman the world feels like it is closing in on her, and for the first time she sounds genuinely scared.

Victoria calls for a doctor while gripping her mother’s trembling hand, and she finally puts her foot down: she is calling her father, no more secrets. The specialist sweeps in, hears the symptoms, and delivers the verdict nobody wanted. The tumor has to come out as soon as humanly possible, and Genoa City does not have the talent to do it. They will have to look elsewhere, fast.

Victoria bolts out the door, and the family machine roars to life. Over at the Newman Ranch, Victor Newman is already working the phones for medical advice when Nicholas Newman wanders in, and the look on his father’s face tells him everything. Victor explains that Nikki Newman is gravely ill and could lose her sight entirely, and the two men reckon with how easily they let her wave off those headaches.

Victor sends Nick to the hospital and keeps dialing, because if there is one thing the Mustache does well, it is move heaven and earth when his family is on the line. He reaches Nate, who loops in a colleague with a connection to a brilliant surgeon, and suddenly there is a sliver of hope where minutes ago there was none.

At the hospital, Nick finds Victoria mid-breakdown and pulls her into his arms, wondering aloud how much more this family can absorb. She confesses she wanted to tell him sooner, but it all happened so fast and their mother swore her to silence. He reminds her that nothing matters more than their parents, and the two of them cling to each other as the tests pile up.

Then Victor and Claire Newman arrive with the closest thing to good news all day. He may have found the best surgeon in the country. Claire throws her arms around him, but Victoria voices the fear hanging over all of them, that even the best surgeon in the world may not get there in time.

Diane Begs Her Captor for Pills as Laurence Twists the Knife

Back at the house, Diane Jenkins is sobbing over her ring, lost in the memory of catching Jack in bed with Patty Williams, when Laurence Markham strolls in to play the devoted healer. He coos that Jack’s betrayal was brutal and that he will walk her through every step of recovery, the kind of comfort that comes with a locked door.

Diane, no rookie at therapy, insists they have made real progress and then makes her move: she wants sleeping pills. The nightmares about Patty are eating her alive, she cannot survive a night without rest, and she swears up and down she is not planning to harm herself. Laurence floats gentler alternatives, clearly in no rush to hand a captive a bottle of anything.

Instead, he reaches for the cruelest tool in his kit. He tells Diane her worst nightmare has officially come true, that Patty has moved in with Jack at his own invitation. It is a gut-punch dressed up as a therapy breakthrough, and it tells you everything about the game this man is really running.

Jack Plays Patty While Plotting Diane’s Rescue

At the Abbott estate, Jack Abbott ships Patty off on a shopping spree so he can brief Billy Abbott on the Markham situation. The doctor stonewalled him, but Kyle tailed the man to that estate near Powers Lake, and the brothers are convinced Diane is stashed inside. Billy begs him not to do anything reckless, floats the cops, and gets shot down because a warrant would tip Patty off.

There is nothing Jack will not do to protect his wife, so he waves Billy back toward Sally Spectra and the family before things get messy. Then Patty saunters home, fishing for naughty confessions and promising a fashion show, and when Jack admits he was talking about Diane, her patience snaps. Keep freezing her out, she warns, and Diane becomes collateral damage.

So Jack flips the script and turns on the charm, pulling Patty into a kiss, biting her lip, sending her off to make martinis. The instant she is out of sight, he sprints for the door. Patty returns to an empty room, clocks the setup immediately, and phones Laurence to warn him Jack may be heading his way, a wrinkle the good doctor thinks he can actually use.

Nate and Stephanie Weigh Nikki’s Long Odds

Over at Society, Nate Hastings tells Dr. Stephanie Simmons that saving Nikki Newman will take an outright miracle. She works her contacts and presses him on exactly how he would approach the case, the way only an old colleague who knows his gifts can. He clocks what she is doing instantly.

She is trying to reignite his love of medicine, and he reminds her, not unkindly, that he cannot perform surgery again. Still, the spark is undeniable, and she can see plainly that the passion never died. He promises to do everything he can from the sidelines, which for a family running out of time may be exactly the edge they need.
