Nikki’s Head Is Staging A Hostile Takeover At The GCAC

We open on Victoria Newman catching Kyle Abbott texting Harrison Locke about breakfast for dinner, which is the most relatable thing anyone does all episode. Why is Kyle freerange today? Because Lucy Romalotti is babysitting his son and, oh yes, the entire household has been forcibly evicted. By whom? Glad you asked.

Enter Nikki Newman, who pops up to cheerfully explain that Patty Williams has booted everyone out and simply moved in. As you do. Jack Abbott is reduced to buttering up Patty to find out where Diane Jenkins is being kept. Victoria, surveying all of this, calls it a nightmare, and for once we cannot argue.

Then it gets real. Nikki Newman nearly folds in half from a headache that is clearly getting worse, and admits her vision is going blurry. Victoria offers to call her doctor and Nikki waves it off as stress, because admitting weakness is simply not in the Newman genetic code. Victoria walks her to her room anyway, because someone in this family has to act like a person.

When Victoria comes back, Kyle asks after her mom and floats the episode’s actual thesis statement: when did they start worrying more about their parents than their parents ever worried about them? Heavy. True. Pour one out.

Victoria Lays Down The Law In Nikki’s Suite

Nikki Newman retreats to her suite and presses a compress to her head, which is the soap opera equivalent of a flashing red warning light. Victoria arrives and flat-out demands her mother see a doctor tomorrow, no negotiating.

Nikki Newman agrees, but only on one condition, and it is the most Nikki condition imaginable: not a word to Victor. Because heaven forbid the man find out his wife is unwell and do something useful with that information. We see you, Nikki. We are concerned, but we see you.

Chelsea And Adam Hold A Career Crisis At Society

Over at Society, Chelsea Lawson tells Adam Newman that their son has spotted Matt Clark out at the ranch, where Victor has apparently put him to work. Chelsea wants to know what Victor is actually planning. Adam, devoted son that he is, has no clue and says so in as many vague words as possible.

The two of them spiral through the greatest hits: Cane is back at Chancellor and somehow in Lily’s good graces, Victor might be yanking Chancellor around purely to wound Nikki, and Matt could slide right back into being his old self at any moment. Chelsea is mostly worried about that last one, and honestly, fair.

Then comes the gut check. They have lost Newman Media. They built something and now they are unemployed. Adam feels terrible for talking Chelsea into a company that lasted roughly five minutes, and suggests she call Summer. Chelsea would rather not come crawling back, thanks. Adam wonders aloud if it is finally time to let the family drama go. Chelsea, stunned he would even consider walking away from the Newman empire, insists Victor has a plan for him. Adam counters that he has already proved himself to his family. Now he only wants to prove himself to her and their son. Cue the swoon. By the end they are scheming to rebuild Newman Media from scratch, because nobody on this show can stay unemployed for one full afternoon.

Victor Hands Matt A Starter Kit For Espionage At The Ranch

At the ranch, Victor Newman informs Matt that Adam says he played his part with Cane to perfection. Matt admits Cane is hard to read and that lying to his face did not feel great, which is a surprisingly tender confession from a man who recently terrorized half of Genoa City.

Victor, unbothered, hands Matt a wallet, a credit card, a fresh ID, and an ankle monitor. Matt is not thrilled about that last accessory but takes the whole bundle. He asks why Victor trusts him at all, which is an excellent question we also have. Victor’s answer is to warn that if Matt lets him down, prison will look like a spa day. Romantic.

Matt confesses he is desperately lonely, that the guards were emotionally unavailable, and that Victor has been decent to him. He wonders if he is being set up as the fall guy. Victor, smiling like a man who absolutely would do that, swears he is not. He then orders Matt to call Cane. The trap is officially live.

Phyllis Pokes The Bear At Crimson Lights

At Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers slinks up to Cane Ashby and demands an apology, which is a bold opening move from the woman who did not get him arrested but absolutely enjoyed the show. She insists he owes her a drink for saving him. Cane, less than charmed, says he has paid for his sins and she has not.

Phyllis then gleefully drops that Victor not only let her go, he handed her a company on the way out. The company? Arabesque. She literally pokes Cane in the chest while delivering this news, and we love a petty queen at work. Cane fidgets, insists he does not care, and Phyllis decides she is going to scrub out all his stale energy and build Arabesque into something huge. Huge, she says. Twice.

Cane volleys back, asking if her kids are speaking to her yet. She admits they are not but swears they will thaw. He smugly notes his own kids have softened toward him and even credits him with saving Malcolm Winters. Then Matt calls, asking to meet for a drink and pick Cane’s brain. Cane names Crimson Lights, and when Matt walks in, Cane skips the small talk entirely and demands to know what Victor wants. Sharp man. Doomed, probably, but sharp.

Victor Gets One More Dig In At The GCAC

Before we wrap, Victor strolls into the GCAC, spots Kyle at the bar, and immediately needles him about being chased out of his own home. Kyle suggests Victor mind his own family for once. A reasonable request. An ignored one, surely.
