PHYLLIS SUMMERS FIRES MICHAEL BALDWIN WHILE GENOA CITY BURNS AROUND HER

TL;DR: Phyllis Summers is unraveling on The Young and the Restless and her response is to fire Michael Baldwin in the middle of her own criminal case, Kyle Abbott is begging his father not to weaponize Patty Williams against Victor Newman, and Devon Winters is handing Mariah Copeland an envelope that nobody is going to take lightly.

You’re Fired! Again?

Phyllis Summers has had a week. Her company is contested. Her best legal mind told her the AI emails check out as legitimate to every expert he hired. Her son is asking the DA where his stepfather is. Sienna may or may not have killed Matt Clark. The Newmans want her head. The board wants her gone. Lauren is telling her morale is in the basement. And what does Phyllis Summers do with all of this pressure?

She fires Michael Baldwin.

“You’re fired!” Phyllis declares. “Again?” Michael answers, with the weary resignation of a man who has been fired by this woman so many times he has lost count. “Yes, your services are no longer required.” Michael, naturally, wants to know what the hell she is up to.

We have a guess. Phyllis Summers has a plan. She told Michael as much when she walked Matt Clark into a Club suite and told Victor Newman she had something better than handing back Newman Enterprises. She has Matt Clark on ice. She wants Christine to drop the charges in exchange. Victor counter offered: hand over Matt AND Newman. Phyllis Summers does not lose. And whatever her next move is, she has apparently decided Michael Baldwin cannot be in the room when she makes it.

Or she is firing him because he keeps reminding her she actually did steal the company. Honestly, that tracks too.

This Is For You

Devon Winters walked up to Mariah Copeland and slipped her an envelope with three little words. “This is for you.”

That is not a get-well card. That is not a peace offering. That is a man who has spent months watching his family circle the wound Mariah opened, watching Abby fall apart over Dominic, watching his nephew ask to give Mariah a stuffed animal, and watching Lily try to convince him to do the healing work in person. Devon went and did exactly what Lily asked. He faced her. And he came armed.

What is in that envelope? A restraining order is a real possibility. Legal paperwork severing whatever access Mariah might still believe she has to Dominic also tracks. Or, and this is the option that would gut her completely, it could be a final document drawing a line so clean and so permanent that Mariah Copeland has no choice but to sit with the consequences of what she did. Whatever it is, Devon Winters did not hand it over because he forgave her. He handed it over because he wanted her to read it.

Have You Heard From My Dad?

Over at the DA’s office, Daniel Romalotti is the picture of barely concealed worry. Christine Blair asks if something is wrong and Daniel does that thing where he opens with “Uh, well, I hope not” and immediately follows up with a question that gives the whole game away. “Have you heard from my dad?”

Translation: Danny Romalotti is not answering his son’s calls, and Daniel went to his stepmother slash the District Attorney slash the woman currently prosecuting his own mother to ask if she has eyes on her husband. There is no version of that conversation that ends with anyone feeling better. Christine is wedged between her marriage and her job. Daniel is wedged between his mother and the man who raised him. And Danny Romalotti is, apparently, off the grid in a Genoa City that is currently hosting a corporate criminal case, a missing psychopath with amnesia, and a man who set Patty Williams loose on his enemies.

We are sure he is fine. We are positive.

You’re Not Still Planning To Use Patty?

And then there is Jack. Beautiful, fragile, vengeance-poisoned Jack Abbott, who has been on a slow boil since Victor weaponized Patty Williams on a yacht and torched his marriage to Diane in the process. Kyle Abbott walks in already knowing the answer to his own question and asks it anyway. “You’re not still planning to use Patty to go after Victor, are you?”

Kyle, sweetie. Of course he is.

Jack already sat down with Patty at Society and told her Nikki is the prize. Take Nikki from Victor and Victor Newman is finished, Jack said. He held Patty’s hands. He told her helping him would change how he feels about her. And Patty, who has spent decades wanting one single person to want her back, looked at him like he had handed her the answer to a prayer. Kyle saw the trap when his father was trying to extract a confession at Crimson Lights. He offered to handle Victor himself. Jack agreed, then went and did it anyway. Phyllis Summers may have her schemes. Devon may have his envelope. But Jack Abbott is playing the most dangerous game on the canvas and Kyle is the only person in his ear telling him to put the lit match down.

He will not. We all know he will not. And the only question left for Friday is exactly how badly this blows up in everyone’s faces.
