TL;DR: This The Young and the Restless theory explores how Victor Newman’s investigation could expose Holden Novak as a killer. With a buried body, potential DNA evidence, and Claire Newman’s suspicions growing, the Mustache may be on the verge of destroying Holden completely.

The Mustache Is Closing In

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) doesn’t let threats linger near his family. He eliminates them. And right now, Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) is looking like the biggest threat to Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) that Victor has seen in a long time.

Here’s what we know. Holden killed a man named Richard (Mike Falkow) back in Los Angeles. It wasn’t premeditated — Holden punched him and Richard’s head smashed into a bar. But dead is dead. And Holden didn’t call the police. He threw the body in his trunk and buried it somewhere.

Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) knows everything. She was there. She helped cover it up. And now these two have made a deal to protect each other — Audra backs off Claire, and Holden keeps quiet about their shared secret.

The problem? Victor Newman already suspects something is wrong with Holden. He’s voiced concerns about Claire’s connection to this man. And Victor has resources that Holden can’t even imagine.

Claire’s Suspicions Are Growing

Claire isn’t stupid. When Audra suddenly started playing nice, it didn’t make Claire trust her. It made her MORE suspicious.

Think about it. Audra has been hostile toward Claire for months. Then out of nowhere, she’s acting cordial and friendly? Claire saw right through it. She knows a deal happened behind her back. She knows Audra and Holden are hiding something.

2026 Young and the Restless preview spoilers suggest Claire will do everything in her power to unearth this secret. She’s dealing with her feelings for Holden while simultaneously investigating him. That’s a brutal emotional position to be in.

But Claire lacks resources. She can’t hire private investigators. She can’t dig into Holden’s past the way she needs to.

You know who can? Her grandfather.

Victor Has an Entire Investigative Team

Victor Newman has spent four decades destroying enemies in Genoa City. He’s taken down crime lords, corporate titans, and family betrayers. His investigative resources are legendary.

If Victor decides to dig into Holden’s Los Angeles past, he WILL find something. And according to this theory, what he finds could be catastrophic for Holden — a buried body and DNA evidence.

Holden was in a hurry when he disposed of Richard’s corpse. He was panicked. He made mistakes. And DNA doesn’t disappear just because you want it to.

When Victor’s team uncovers that grave, Holden’s life as he knows it ends.

Prison, Exile, or Puppet?

Here’s where the theory gets interesting. Victor doesn’t just destroy people — he uses them first.

Holden worked for Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). He might have Cane’s trust. He might have inside information that Victor could weaponize in his ongoing corporate war.

So what does Victor Newman do with the evidence? Does he expose Holden immediately and send him to prison? Does he force Holden to leave Genoa City and never contact Claire again? Or does Victor blackmail Holden into becoming his puppet against Cane?

Knowing the Mustache, he’ll probably do all three — use Holden until he’s no longer valuable, then destroy him anyway.

Claire’s World Shatters

The most devastating part of this theory isn’t what happens to Holden. It’s what happens to Claire.

She’s falling for this man. She’s fighting her suspicions because she WANTS to believe he’s good. But Holden isn’t good. He killed someone. He buried the body. He’s been lying to Claire since the moment they met.

When Claire finds out the man she’s falling for has blood on his hands, it will shatter her. Everything she believed about Holden was a lie. And her grandfather will be the one who proves it.

Audra won’t escape unscathed either. She’s complicit in this cover-up. When Victor exposes Holden, Audra’s secrets come out too. Their little deal to protect each other means nothing when the Mustache has DNA evidence.
