The Young and the Restless
Y&R FLASHPOINT: Victor Newman Already Hated Nikki’s Hospital Visit, Jack Abbott at the Ranch Will Be Worse
Victor Newman already hated it when Nikki checked on Jack Abbott once, and these Y&R spoilers say round two gets a whole lot worse.
JACK ABBOTT ISN’T DOING ANYTHING WRONG, VICTOR CAN’T HANDLE IT
TL;DR: Nikki Newman is blind and recovering at the Ranch, and Jack Abbott wants to visit her after his own hospital stay. Victor Newman already hated it when Nikki checked on Jack once. Round two, inside his own house, is not going to go smoothly.
Jack Abbott Isn’t Doing Anything Wrong, Victor Can’t Handle It
Nikki Newman had her bandages removed and got the news no one wanted to hear. She cannot see. Not yet, maybe not for a while, and she is staying at the Ranch to recover in the one place Victor Newman can control every single thing that happens around her.
That control already got tested once when Nikki went to the hospital to check on Jack Abbott after he was stabbed, and Victor made his displeasure known then, even though there was nothing remotely inappropriate about a longtime friend checking on a man who nearly died. Now Jack wants to return the favor and visit Nikki at the Ranch, and if round one was uncomfortable to watch, round two is going to be a real problem for everyone in that house.

Round Two Is Already Shaping Up Worse Than Round One
Let’s be honest about what this actually is. Jack was nearly killed. Diane Jenkins has been at his bedside through the worst of it, and Nikki showing up to check on an old friend recovering from a near-fatal stabbing is not some scandal waiting to happen.
It is basic human decency, the kind that should not require anyone’s permission. Victor did not see it that way when Nikki made the trip to the hospital, and there is no reason to think a blind, vulnerable Nikki receiving a visit from Jack inside Victor’s own house is going to land any better this time around.
Victor’s Jealousy Has Never Needed a Real Reason
Here is what makes this so predictable. Victor has spent years treating basic kindness toward Jack, or from Jack, like a personal threat, and it has never actually needed a real reason to flare up.
Nikki visited a man in the hospital who was stabbed by Patty Williams, the very person Victor brought back to Genoa City in the first place, and Victor still found a way to make that about himself.
The Pattern Nobody in Genoa City Can Unsee
Victor Newman has a well-documented history here. Add in the fact that Nikki cannot see right now, cannot read a room, cannot catch a look he gives her from across it, and this whole situation becomes exactly the kind of powder keg Victor tends to create out of nothing.
Jack showing up to check on an old friend is not the plot twist here. His reaction is. Victor Newman brought Patty into this story, Patty put Jack in the hospital, and somehow he is going to find a way to be the aggrieved party when Jack simply wants to see how Nikki is holding up. That is the pattern, and everyone in Genoa City knows it by now.
Do you think Victor is going to lose it when Jack Abbott shows up at the Ranch, or is Nikki finally going to stand her ground? Tell us in the comments below.
Our Take: Victor Needs to Sit This One Out
A blind woman recovering from surgery deserves visits from people who care about her, full stop, and that should not require anyone’s permission, least of all his. Jack Abbott checking in after everything that has happened is not an act of war, and treating it like one says a lot more about Victor than it does about Jack.
If he cannot see that a friend visiting a friend is not a threat, the problem was never Jack Abbott. It has always been Victor Newman, and Nikki, blind or not, deserves better than being caught in the middle of it. Sound off on our Facebook page and tell us who you’re blaming.
