VICTOR NEWMAN’S KID GLOVES COME OFF AND NICK IS ABOUT TO HEAR THE TRUTH WHETHER HE IS READY OR NOT

TL;DR: On Thursday’s Young and the Restless, Victor Newman will deliver tough love to Nick Newman, Jack Abbott will turn the tables on Patty Williams, and Phyllis Summers will set a trap.

Victor Newman Stops Being Gentle

Victor Newman has been carrying Nick with kid gloves since the overdose, and the gloves come OFF.

After watching Nick Newman fight his sobriety, after letting Adam push him, after waiting for somebody else to get through to him, Victor decides his son needs to hear it from him directly. The tough love Victor delivers is the kind only a Newman patriarch can give, and Nick is going to hear it whether he is ready or not.

Victor Newman is not afraid of his son. He is not afraid of Nick’s pain, of Nick’s anger, of Nick walking out of the room. What Victor IS afraid of is losing his son to the disease, and that fear makes him willing to say the things nobody else has been willing to say. The Mustache is going to be hard. The Mustache is going to be honest. And the Mustache is going to make Nick look him in the eye while he says it.

This is the scene Young and the Restless has been building since the OD, and the moment Victor stops protecting Nick from the truth has arrived. Eric Braeden and Joshua Morrow in a room together with this much on the table is going to be the kind of acting that wins Daytime Emmys, and we are going to be SOBBING through every second of it.

The Mustache loves his son. And love means saying the hard thing.

Jack Abbott Turns The Tables On Patty Williams

Patty Williams thought she had Jack Abbott cornered.

She didn’t. Jack has been letting her think she did. The turn comes HARD, and Patty is going to find out that the Abbott she has been circling has been three steps ahead of her the entire time. Jack Abbott is not the soft target Patty assumed he was, and the trap she thought she was setting was the trap he was setting for HER.

Jack does not enjoy this. Jack and Patty have history that runs decades deep, and there is no version of Jack outsmarting Patty Williams that does not hurt them both. But Jack has a family to protect, and Patty has been a credible threat. The way Jack delivers the news, calmly, firmly, with that signature Abbott composure, is going to be unsettling to watch in the best way.

Peter Bergman and Stacy Haiduk in a scene together is appointment television.

Phyllis Summers Sets A Trap

Phyllis Summers has been BACKED into a corner.

So she does what Phyllis always does. She comes out swinging. Phyllis sets a trap, and the design is going to be vintage Phyllis. Clever, layered, built on the assumption that everyone else is too distracted to notice she is the one pulling the strings. Whoever she is going after, she is doing it with the confidence of a woman who has spent her entire life maneuvering out of impossible situations.

The question is whether the trap works, or whether Phyllis Summers is finally outmatched by the people who have been quietly preparing for exactly this move.
