Phyllis Summers Walks Into the Newman Ranch With Matt Clark on Ice
By the time Phyllis Summers and her recently fired, freshly rehired lawyer Michael Baldwin sweep into the Newman living room on Thursday, the air at the Ranch has been altered forever. She tells Victor Newman what she’s holding will blow his mind. Michael, ever the professional, asks what Matt Clark is worth to them. The audacity. The TIMING. The fact that Phyllis Summers strolled in here like a maître d’ offering a chef’s tasting menu. We are obsessed.
She has Matt on ice. She’ll hand him over. All she wants in exchange is for every charge against her dropped. Nick scoffs and calls it desperation. Phyllis tells him to mind his blood pressure. Victor smiles, because of course he does, because the man has not been able to wipe that smirk off his face since the words “Matt Clark” left her mouth. Then The Mustache raises the stakes. He’ll agree, but she also has to return Newman. The audacity of HIM. We are unwell. We are also nominating Phyllis Summers for the most chaotic exit out of a corner office in television history.
Will Phyllis actually hand Matt to Victor or is this another trap with a glittery bow on it? Send your hottest takes and Phyllis Summers double-cross theories to [email protected] and we might publish them on the site!
Nick Newman Broke Down in Victor’s Arms Moments Before Phyllis Arrived
Right before Phyllis came knocking, Nick Newman walked into the Ranch and found his father waiting. Victor confronted him about the murder plan. Nick doubled down, because that is what addicts in active spiral do. Then he cracked. “I can’t help anyone and I can’t even help myself,” he sobbed. Victor wrapped his son in his arms. The patriarch reminded Nick that he is the heir, that Victor will not be around forever, and that prison would erase everything they have built. The Mustache promised Matt would get what was due to him. And THEN Phyllis walked in to make sure of it. The writers timed this entrance like a Swiss watch.
Phyllis Tucked Matt Into a GCAC Suite Before Playing Hostage Negotiator
Earlier in the day, Phyllis checked Matt into a fluffy GCAC suite, told him the bar is stocked and the robes are luxurious, and warned him not to go out under any circumstances. She handed him her phone and her room number. He asked if he is the awful person Noah Newman accused him of being. Phyllis, who is technically running a one-woman witness protection program with a profit motive, told him the Newmans are “not good people.” She conveniently forgot to mention that those same Newmans are about to be her plan B’s. Matt thanked her. They agreed to breakfast. He stared at his own bruised face in the mirror and got a flash of pummeling Noah Newman like a Bond villain. Sleep tight, GCAC.
In the foyer on her way down, Phyllis ran into Michael, who wanted to talk strategy. She told him she fired him because his ideas were lame. Then she told him the new play. She has the one thing Victor wants more than air, and she is willing to trade. Michael listened, weighed his options, and asked to do the talking. Phyllis Summers does not need a lawyer. She IS the legal team. Still, having one is decorative and we respect it.
Jack Abbott Asks Patty Williams to Help Him Burn Victor’s House Down
At Society, Jack Abbott found Patty Williams drinking at the bar and slid up next to her. He told her he was not there to fight. He wanted to chat about the yacht situation. He gently pressed. She confirmed Victor paid her to drug him. Then she admitted she would have done it for FREE, which is the most Patty Williams sentence ever uttered in syndication. She still swears she did not spike the booze. She blamed chemistry. Sir.
Then Jack rolled the dice. He told Patty he wants Victor to lose the love of his life if it is the last thing he does. A wife for a wife. Patty calls it Old Testament and is fully on board. Jack has not given up on Diane but he is not sitting around either. He asked Patty if she would help him take Victor’s whole world apart. Patty, who has been waiting decades for a man to ask her to help him plot revenge over cocktails, lights up like a Christmas tree. This is going to end in tears. Jack Abbott is playing checkers with a chess grandmaster of obsession and he does not know it yet.
Diane Jenkins Wakes Up Screaming From the Nightmare of Her Life
Diane Jenkins is trying to read in her suite when Jack texts her a photo and her entire nervous system short-circuits. She calls him, leaves a voicemail telling him she still loves him and wants to come home, and then promptly falls into the most psychologically rude dream a woman has ever had.
In the dream, Diane begs Jack to take her back. Dream Jack says no. He has moved on. With Patty. Patty walks in, kisses Jack, and announces that the baby she “miscarried” survived “thanks to the power of love.” They are now a family. Diane SCREAMS. We screamed. The room screamed. Y&R writers, who hurt you. Diane wakes up gasping. She has no idea Jack is currently across town doing recon at a bar with the woman who starred in her nightmare. Get ready.
Whose Thursday move has you the most rattled? Phyllis trading Matt for Newman? Jack recruiting Patty to ruin Victor? Or Diane’s worst-case-scenario dream coming dangerously close to a real prophecy? Sound off because we need to discuss!
WATCH NOW: Will Patty get her wish?
@soapoperamag Patty's in Genoa City and you know she's still thinking about this kiss! My ultimate wish is for #PattyWilliams to get her man! Does #JackAbbott love her? No. But he could. He's fallen for worse women, honestly.
