THESE FIVE COMEBACKS COULD RESHAPE EVERY MAJOR YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS FAMILY ON THE CANVAS

Young and the Restless has a new writing team, and before Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor pen a single new twist, we’ve got five names we want dusted off and dropped right back onto the canvas.

New Writers, Old Scores to Settle

Young and the Restless officially named Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor as co-head writers on July 30, replacing outgoing scribe Josh Griffith. It’s the first co-head writing team the soap has hired since 2013, and insiders say the goal is recapturing the classic storytelling that made this show No. 1 for decades.

Classic storytelling means classic faces, and we’ve got five who never should have stayed gone this long.

Bring Back the Badge: Paul Williams

Paul Williams has been physically absent from Genoa City for years now, and honestly, the GCPD shows it. Young and the Restless runs on cops chasing chaos, and nobody chased it better or got tangled up in more of it himself than Paul did.

Give him a badge, a grudge, and a reason to walk back through that precinct door. Every Newman scheme needs someone who’s seen it all before to push back, and this show is overdue for that presence again.

A Newman Girl With a Brand New Secret: Summer Newman

Summer Newman left for Milan single and heartbroken. Send her home engaged to someone else, quietly raising a child Kyle Abbott doesn’t know is his, and watch him unravel trying to fight for a family he didn’t know existed.

That’s the kind of jealousy spiral that used to define this show, and we’d love to see it again.

The Ex Who Never Really Left: Tara Locke

Tara Locke went to prison for embezzlement, but a woman like that doesn’t stay quiet forever. Bring her back fighting for custody of Harrison Abbott, and Kyle’s courtroom battle to keep his son could be exactly what thaws things between him and Summer.

Watching Summer soften while she watches Kyle fight for his family is the slow burn we didn’t know we needed.

Let Her Come Home for Real: Drucilla Winters

Drucilla Winters supposedly died falling off a cliff back in 2007, and her body was never recovered. That’s soap math for “not actually gone,” and Young and the Restless has let Lily Winters and Devon Winters grieve a mother who could be walking around somewhere this whole time.

Bring her back for real, reunions and fallout included, and give this family the reckoning a body-never-found death always deserves.

Let the Devil Back In: Ian Ward

Ian Ward and Jordan Howard tore through this family together before Jordan drank poisoned tea rather than face capture, and Ian never got to answer for any of it. Send him back after Victor Newman, fueled by grief and revenge for the partner he lost, and Young and the Restless would have its next great villain arc built entirely on payback nobody saw coming.
