Y&R’s Vanishing Acts: New Hope, Grand Phoenix, and Phyllis’ Community Service

The Disappearance of New Hope

Um, where did New Hope go? Can someone ask Nick Newman? New Hope in Genoa City just went away without an explanation. Why? New Hope was Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) creation to help Genoa City residents less fortunate. Is there no one in Genoa City on Y&R who needs help? Young & the Restless fans think not.

Are there residents in Genoa City who owe community service hours? Right now there are at least two & one of them have hours that are past due. Why can’t Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) be running New Hope to provide her court-ordered community service hours? She could have even found the experience enjoyable to turn New Hope into a career. If Phyllis had anything to do with New Hope, she & her granddaughter Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) could be supporting their community together to make things right after their mistakes.

The Grand Phoenix Mystery

Also, where’s the Grand Phoenix? Can someone ask Lily Winters? Phyllis Summers sold her hotel to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) on behalf of Chancellor Winters more than 2 years ago with promises of renovations. Young & the Restless fans have not seen the hotel since. Now Genoa City’s elite residents who don’t have homes are forced to live at the Genoa City Athletic Club as it’s the only overnight option right now besides the Genoa City Motor Arms on the outside of town. We all know the purpose of the Motor Arms & it’s not fine living.

When Winters & Chancellor separated, it was not disclosed to Young & the Restless fans whether the Grand Phoenix was awarded to which company. Now that Phyllis Summers is working for Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), wouldn’t it be just perfect if the Grand Phoenix landed under the Abbott Chancellor portfolio & Billy & Phyllis could reboot it?!?

Phyllis’ Forgotten Community Service

Finally, in light of Lucy serving her community service hours, what happened to Phyllis’ community service orders owed? It’s been over a year since Phyllis was ordered community service hours after faking her death & killing Jeremy Stark (James Hyde). She hasn’t provided a minute of service. Even so, even Cricket & everyone else has seemed to forget about this obligation but since Lily has started her recently issued community service, Cricket’s memory might be jogged once she returns to Genoa City to prosecute Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) for killing Lucy’s mother Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom).

Missed Opportunities in Genoa City

Everyone’s least favorite bug, Cricket will no doubt be back in Genoa City in no time in light of recent events. Will she be the one to stir up the expired warm-fuzzy of New Hope & Phyllis Summers’ forgotten community service? We know she & Danny Romalotti will not be taking a room at the Grand Phoenix anytime soon.
