Back at the ranch, Victor Newman found Nikki Newman deep in Vibrante planning and admired how driven and spirited she’s become, and Nikki assured him Diane wasn’t managing to rattle her in the slightest. The conversation drifted toward Nick Newman settling back into work faster than anyone expected, and Victor privately worried about what that stress could eventually cost him. He confessed that with every rehab stint she’d survived, part of him kept praying it would finally stick for good.

When the subject of Jack sponsoring Nick came up, Nikki insisted it wasn’t their call to make, but Victor wanted literally any other candidate. Their debate got interrupted when Adam Newman arrived with grim news: Marie Kirkland had overdosed again, in that same fentanyl motel, and was now hospitalized. The whole family instantly spiraled into worry about what it might mean for Nick’s sobriety, and Victor made clear he wanted this kept entirely out of the press. Adam feared his brother might find out regardless, prompting Victor to decide someone in the family needed to break it to Nick directly.

Victoria eventually joined the family huddle, and everyone weighed whether Nick deserved to hear about Marie straight from them rather than through the rumor mill. Nick walked in on the gathering and immediately assumed he’d stumbled into an intervention. Adam laid it all out anyway, and Nick learned there was no family for Marie to lean on, which floored him. He insisted on personally covering her medical bills, waved off Adam’s offer to join him at the hospital, and walked out determined to handle it his own way. The instant he cleared the front door, his composure cracked wide open: a furious vow aimed squarely at Joe, promising the man’s days were officially numbered.

Esther Steadies Nick’s Nerves

Earlier at Crimson Lights, Esther Valentine gave Nick a warm welcome back, and the two shared a few laughs before everything went sideways. Nick spotted a familiar face from his using days walking through the door and shot to his feet demanding an explanation, only for the man to casually drop Marie’s name into the conversation before Nick chased him out for good.

Sharon Newman happened to catch the tail end of the confrontation and led Nick outside for some air to help him settle down. He explained the man’s history in his life and snapped at her not to play his therapist, then quickly apologized for the outburst. Sharon reminded him this particular temper predates his sobriety journey by quite a lot. Esther arrived with herbal tea as the two of them worked through sponsorship talk and Nick’s need to manage his reactions more carefully. Still, the damage had already landed: the mention of Marie kept gnawing at him, and Sharon urged him to resist spiraling, suspecting the man had simply been trying to provoke a reaction. Adam’s call summoning him to the ranch, ominously unrelated to Matt Clark, only deepened Nick’s unease.

Once Nick left, Esther checked in on Sharon, recalling the rough patches she’d witnessed years ago while caring for Katherine Chancellor and offering an open ear if Sharon ever needed one, given her background counseling people through alcohol addiction. The two reflected on how painful it is watching someone battle addiction firsthand, and Sharon told Esther what a genuinely beautiful soul she has.
