WHY WE CAN’T HELP BUT ROOT FOR VICTOR NEWMAN TO WIN EVERY WAR, EVERY SINGLE TIME (and we’re not sorry about it)

TL;DR: Victor Newman is currently waging war on multiple fronts on Young and the Restless, and somehow he’s winning all of them. From destroying Jabot with stolen AI software to hunting down Matt Clark, the Mustache refuses to lose. Here’s why fans can’t help but cheer for Genoa City’s greatest villain.

Victor Newman Is Undefeated

There’s a reason Victor Newman has been the king of Genoa City for over four decades. The man simply does not lose. He might take a hit here and there, he might face temporary setbacks, but when the dust settles, Victor Newman is always the last one standing with that signature smirk on his face.

Right now on Young and the Restless, Victor is juggling more battles than most people could handle in a lifetime. He’s systematically dismantling Jabot with stolen AI software. He’s hunting down Matt Clark for threatening his family. He’s keeping Michael Baldwin on a very short leash. He even told his own wife to get out when she dared to threaten him.

And somehow, against all odds and basic human decency, we’re rooting for him.

The Jabot Destruction Is a Masterclass

Victor didn’t just attack Jabot. He orchestrated a complete and total annihilation that forced Jack Abbott to shut down his own father’s company just to survive. That’s not a battle. That’s a execution.

First, Victor acquired Cane’s AI software through Phyllis, because of course he did. Then he tested it on Arabesque, destroying that company completely. When Jack caught wind that Jabot was next, he made the desperate decision to take his servers offline to prevent the attack.

Did Victor accept this defensive move gracefully? Absolutely not. He had Newman Media release a hit piece about Jabot’s shutdown during the Abbott Communications launch party, publicly humiliating Jack at his own family’s event. When Jack confronted him about it, Victor simply grinned and asked how many millions they’d lost since shutting down.

The absolute audacity of this man is unmatched.

Nobody Threatens Victor Newman

When Nikki discovered Victor was behind the attack on Jabot, she issued him an ultimatum. End the war on Jack, hand over the AI software, or she would leave him. This is Nikki Newman, the love of Victor’s life, the woman he’s married approximately seven hundred times.

Victor’s response? He yelled at her to get out if she wanted out. He told her he doesn’t take kindly to threats, not even from her. The door was right there.

Now, did Nikki actually leave? Of course not. She admitted to Jack that she couldn’t follow through on her ultimatum because her heart wouldn’t let her stay angry at her husband. Victor called her bluff and won without even trying.

That’s the thing about Victor Newman. He knows exactly how much power he holds, and he’s not afraid to use it against anyone, including the people who love him most.

The Michael Baldwin Power Move

Victor’s handling of Michael Baldwin has been particularly entertaining to watch. Michael has been questioning his role in Victor’s schemes, wondering if he’s just a blunt instrument used to bludgeon enemies. Fair question, honestly.

Victor’s solution? He gifted Michael an ancient Roman coin from the reign of Antoninus Pius and reminded him of the day Ian Ward held them at gunpoint, when Michael stayed by his side instead of fleeing. By accepting this coin, Victor explained, Michael was pledging his complete loyalty.

Michael folded immediately. “Of course. I’m sorry there was ever any doubt.”

Victor Newman just bought a lawyer’s eternal loyalty with a coin and a guilt trip. The man is operating on a level the rest of us cannot comprehend.

Why We Love to Watch Him Win

Here’s the thing about Victor Newman that makes him so compelling after all these years. He’s not pretending to be a good person. He’s not trying to justify his actions with flimsy excuses. When Jack accused him of going too far, Victor didn’t apologize. He reminded Jack that he built Newman Enterprises from nothing while Jack merely inherited Jabot.

Eric Braeden has been playing Victor since 1980, and he understands something fundamental about this character. Victor Newman believes he is right. He believes his family is worth protecting at any cost. He believes his enemies deserve everything coming to them.

When Victor toasted “To Jack Abbott, the architect of his own downfall,” he meant every word. In Victor’s mind, Jack brought this on himself by spending that night with Nikki at the hotel. Everything since then has been justified retaliation.

Is that healthy? No. Is it ethical? Absolutely not. Is it incredibly entertaining television? Every single time.

The Matt Clark Situation

As if destroying Jabot wasn’t enough, Victor is simultaneously dealing with Matt Clark, who kidnapped Noah’s girlfriend Sienna and is threatening his family. Victor has Michael digging into Matt’s past, trying to figure out what he was doing between his supposed death and his resurrection.

Most people would be overwhelmed handling one crisis. Victor Newman is casually managing the complete destruction of his rival’s business while also hunting down a kidnapper who threatened his grandson. It’s just another Tuesday for the Mustache.

Long Live the Mustache

Victor Newman represents everything soap operas do best. He’s larger than life, completely unapologetic, and always three steps ahead of everyone else. He schemes, he manipulates, he destroys, and then he pours himself a drink and waits for the next challenger.

Jack Abbott keeps swearing this is the hill he’s willing to die on. Victor’s response? “Ooo! I’m looking forward to that.”

Forty-plus years of dominating Genoa City, and Victor Newman still isn’t done winning. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
