THIS BEYOND THE GATES RECAP HAS BILL HAMILTON COLLAPSING UNDER THE WEIGHT OF A SECRET HE CAN’T OUTRUN WHILE SMITTY SMITH GETS PULLED INTO A FRAME JOB OF HIS OWN
TL;DR: This Beyond the Gates Recap catches Bill Hamilton’s obsession with Dani Dupree finally catching up to him right as his body starts failing him, Vernon Dupree and Anita Dupree closing in on the truth from opposite sides of the family, Smitty Smith getting hauled in for questioning over a case that could end his career and his marriage, and Leslie Thomas talking her way into Marcel Malone’s bed and possibly his heart.
Vernon Dupree and Anita Dupree Start Closing In on the Secret Bill Hamilton and Dani Dupree Are Hiding
At the Dupree table, Andre Richardson filled Vernon Dupree in on his lecture and his trip, but the mood shifted when Andre mentioned that Bill Hamilton had stayed in touch with Dani Dupree the whole time she was away. Andre brushed it off as old history tied to Bill’s health, but Vernon wasn’t so sure.
He had good reason to wonder. Back home, Dani bragged to her mother, Anita Dupree, about her trip and her marriage, but the second Anita asked whether she’d spoken to Bill, Dani’s story started falling apart. She tried denying it, then admitted to texting him, then insisted it meant nothing, all while Anita picked the excuses apart one by one, reminding her daughter that she’d once called Bill her husband by mistake while he was in surgery. Dani brushed that off too, but Anita wasn’t buying any of it, certain her daughter and Bill were hiding something bigger.
Whatever that something was, it was eating Bill alive. In his office, he tried to text Dani the second he heard she was home, only for his hand to start shaking so badly he dropped his phone. Hayley Lawson showed up with food and found him barely able to focus on his own screen. Vernon arrived next, and once Hayley cleared the room, he confronted Bill directly about his fixation on Dani, warning him to stay away from his daughter and accusing him of trying to reopen a door that should have stayed shut. Bill insisted he wasn’t a threat to anyone’s marriage, but once Vernon left, his body told a different story: his vision blurred, his hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and he collapsed in his chair. When he came to, he could barely move, and the first thing he did once he found his voice again was call someone he said he needed to see immediately.
Later, Andre came home to Dani with a gift and a story of his own about his talk with Vernon, one that conveniently left Bill’s name out of it entirely. Dani played along, and the two of them spent the rest of the night pretending nothing was wrong. Across town, Vernon and Anita compared notes and landed on the same uneasy conclusion: their daughter and her ex-husband were sitting on something, and it was only a matter of time before it came out.
Do you think Bill’s collapse is connected to whatever’s really going on with Dani, or is his health just catching up with him on its own? Email us your theory at amber@soapoperamagazine.com, we want to hear it.
Smitty Smith Gets Pulled Into a Case That Could Cost Him Everything
At the townhouse he shares with husband Martin Richardson, a shirtless Smitty Smith got interrupted mid-flirtation by a call from Jacob Hawthorne asking him to come down to the station with a lawyer. Rattled, Smitty broke the news to Martin, who offered to come along, but ultimately agreed to stay home and wait for a call rather than risk making things worse.
Inside the station, Jacob reviewed hidden camera footage placing Smitty at Uptown meeting with a source named Max, who’d handed him a small package. Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne arrived to represent Smitty, coaching him not to volunteer anything before the two of them sat down across from Jacob for a recorded interview. Jacob pressed Smitty about his relationship with Max and what exactly he’d been given, but Naomi cut the interview short before Smitty could answer.
Back home, Smitty finally leveled with Naomi and Martin about the real story: he’d met Max months earlier as a source, someone who’d been scared and suspicious he was being watched for leaking information. The footage Jacob showed him didn’t line up with any of that, and Smitty was suddenly certain the timeline had been doctored. He landed on only one explanation: that Heather Armstrong, the woman his own family calls the Impaler, was setting him up, a suspicion our Beyond the Gates two-week spoilers preview says is about to blow wide open. Naomi, now representing Smitty against her own husband’s investigation, went back to the station to tell Jacob the two of them would officially be on opposite sides of this one.
Leslie Thomas Talks Her Way Deeper Into Marcel Malone’s Life
At Orphie’s, Hayley Lawson tried to slip past Leslie Thomas without a word, only to get called out for it in front of Marcel Malone. Marcel teased that Hayley was clearly Leslie’s best friend whether she wanted the title or not, joking that when Leslie sets her sights on something, she gets it. Hayley brushed the whole thing off and stepped away, with Leslie following to apologize for putting her on the spot, assuming Hayley’s discomfort had to do with being around a cop. Hayley denied it and made her exit anyway.
Back at the table, Leslie made her intentions with Marcel very clear, and he decided on the spot to take some time off work to be with her. Later, in her hotel room, the two of them gave in to that plan completely. Once it was over, Marcel admitted she did more for him than she probably realized, and when she teased him about going soft, he pushed back, calling her the most exciting woman he’s ever known. Leslie returned the compliment, telling him he’s the first man she’s never had to chase, and the two shared a kiss before he headed back to work.
